  • Students Rise Tamil Nadu Against Tamils Genocide,Keep up

    Barring the 1965 Anti-Hindi agitation  , Students of Tamil Nadu have never been as vehement, relentless and devoid of Political color  as one against the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka and Rajapakshe.

    Their demands are for separate Tamil Elam,or Peaceful resettlement of the Tamils in Sri Lanka, Investigation of War Crimes by Sri Lanka nd the decalaration of Rajapakshe as a war criminal.

    They are justified in what they are doing , in the absence of a concerted effort to mobilise Public opinion against Sri Lanka by the Indian government.

    For political reasons, nay, personal gains of not being arrested and for power the DMK which has been a part of the Government till yesterday ,a party to support Sri Lanka and the apathy of the other parties, barring Vaiko and Jayalaithaa,the former relentlessly championing the cause in Intentional Forums and the latter by doing whatever possible as responsible CM in a federal set up.

    That the DMK has started the TESO comedy is for Public consumption and the withdrawal from the Government a few days ago on Tamils Issue.

    Already the DMK is sending feelers to Congress for the Alliance for the coming elections.

    Now what is needed is a Peoples Movement ; just as for the Anti Hindi Agitation.

    That was apolitical in nature and a genuine effort on the imposition of Hindi against non Hindi speaking States.

    Annadurai jumped into the wagon in the last stage to reap a political advantage.

    But for Tamil Nadu’s step Hindi would have entered in the non Hindi belts.

    The present agitation is also non political where no voice against or for any political party is raised in the agitation of these students.

    Though there are some violent incidents reported, the agitation has by and large been peaceful.

    The other agitations by the students were failures in Tamil Nadu as they have been tainted with Politics and politicians muddling the issues.

    Students, keep up the pressure.

    More important do not allow politicians to sneak in whoever it might be.

    Do not give room to violence.

    You will succeed in making Delhi see reason and stop cuddling up to Sri Lanka under the pretext of Security and checkmating China.

    Chennai,Mar 20 (TruthDive): Anti-Sri Lanka protests raging in Tamil Nadu  are termed by the political experts as the biggest upsurge that the State is witnessing after the anti-Hindi agitation led by DMK in 1965. The massive student protests are now spreading like forest fire to cover other sections of the society, never before seen in the State after 1965.

    Demanding a separate Eelam for the Sri Lankan Tamils, all sections of the society are now joining the battle including Madras High Court advocates, Chennai’s wholesale vegetable & fruit market,Koyambedu traders, pro-Tamil outfits, industrial workers from Sriperumbudur, cottage industry workers from Coimbatore, textile industry workers from Tirupur and Tamil refugees at Pudukkottai refugee camp to show their solidarity with the protesting student community of Tamil Nadu.

    Apparently, the unprecedented breakout of agitations against Sri Lanka in Tamil Nadu has shaken up the island nation to the extent that a travel advisory has been issued by the country’s Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday following  incidents of assaults on Buddhist monks in Chennai and Thanjavur.

    It is also learnt that the Sri Lankan Airlines has reduced its flights to Chennai by half and Sri Lankan tourists are cancelling trips to India.

    About 40 of the Tamil Nadu Youth Front members burnt copies of the US resolution on Sri Lanka opposite Loyola College in the city.

    Around 150 members of the Students Federation of India staged a demonstration in front of Shastri Bhavan in Chennai that houses the key central government offices in the city. The agitating students were taken into custody by the police and released later.

    75 VCK cadres staged a rail roko at the Thiruvanmiyur MRTS station and were arrested.

    300 supporters of a political outfit, Bharat Hindu Munnani  blocked a train at the Perambur railway station here.

    Demanding a referendum in Sri Lanka, members of All Engineering and Arts and Science College Students Federation were restrained by police personnel when they attempted to enter Tiruchi railway junction in a bid to stage a rail roko according to reports from The Hindu.

    It may be recalled that the Tamil Nadu government has ordered indefinite closure of 525 engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University and 438 arts and science colleges in the State with an objective of diluting the student agitations that are rocking the state of Tamil Nadu. Nevertheless, students have strengthened their protests by holding fasts, processions, rallies, burning effigies of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapkse near government establishments across Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Salem, Thanjavur, etc.

    The Tamil film industry, including directors, artists etc showed their support for the students by observing  a day’s hunger strike at Valluvar Kottam yesterday.

    The role of Muslims in the Sri Lanka conflict is debatable.

    They were not subscribing to the Tamil Elam nor any other solution to alleviate the sufferings of the Tamils.

    They have been the quislings right from the period of Sirimavo Bandaranaike to Rajapakshe now.

    Muslims condoned Tamil genocide and actually celebrated it.

    They have used the Muslims against the Tamils and now are tightening the screws on the Muslims by allowing the sale of Non –Halal Meat!

    ‘A CURIOUS story in a local English daily caught my eye the other day. It seemed the Sri Lanka Muslim Council had given in to demands that meat could be sold without halal certification. This is a huge success for radical Buddhist groups who have been orchestrating an anti-Muslim campaign for the last few years.

    Mosques have been attacked, prayers disrupted, and Muslims in general accused of being anti-state. The Muslim Tamil National Alliance has written to the Secretary General of the United Nations, asking him for protection, and protesting against this nasty campaign.

    Leading the anti-Muslim charge is a group called the Bodu Bela Sena, or Buddhist Force. Headed by ultra-nationalistic monks, the group follows a xenophobic agenda of “Sri Lanka for the Buddhists”. Of late, Buddhist monks have begun playing a growing and retrogressive role in the island’s politics.

    The monks first flexed their muscles to shore up the Rajapakse government’s resolve to crush the Tamil insurgency. First, they blocked any possibility of compromise by offering the Tamil Tigers greater autonomy. To build up pressure, they formed a political party and won enough seats to take a place in the coalition government.

    Then, when President Mahinda Rajapakse’s brother, defence secretary Gotabaya, was facing difficulties in finding enough recruits for the army, a group of monks fanned out across the Buddhist areas to motivate thousands of young men. These recruits were assured that they would not lose karma by fighting and killing in a war as they would be doing so in the cause of Buddhism.

    The brutal civil war ended nearly four years ago in a bloodbath that is now the subject of intense scrutiny and criticism from abroad. The ongoing session of the UN Human Rights Commission at Geneva is about to vote on a resolution initiated by the US, demanding an international investigation into the fate of tens of thousands of Tamils said to be killed in the last days of the fighting in the north of the island.

    Against this backdrop, it is odd that the government is doing so little to clamp down on the anti-Muslim campaign. Should it gain support and traction, the results could be very bad news. Muslims are mostly concentrated in three areas: in and around Galle and Colombo, and in the coastal areas of the north-east. The latter are mostly poor fishermen, while urban Muslims are heavily represented in business and the professions.”

    “I am certain on one point: the major determinant behind the policy of Western Governments on Sri Lanka is not the LTTE but the Western Ambassadors who are presently working in Sri Lanka. We can safely presume that none of them owe their exalted positions to political patronage, that all of them have behind them many years of proven capacity particularly in the field of political analysis, and that every one of them has reported in detail and analysed responsibly the halal problem and the anti-Muslim hate campaign.

    It is not difficult to guess the trend of their analyses and their recommendations. It would be more or less along the following lines. The SL Tamils and the SL Muslims are both minorities but they are fundamentally distinct because the former can claim a homeland while the latter can’t. That is a fundamental distinction because the claim to a homeland can serve as the basis for a separatist claim. Any claim to separatism by the SL Muslims cannot therefore be taken seriously at all, and understandably they have never made that claim. Furthermore, whenever there has been controversy between the Sinhalese and the Tamils the Muslims have always taken the Sinhalese side against the Tamils, and they have done so instantly, unconditionally, and wholeheartedly. It is worth mentioning that during the July ’83 holocaust against the Tamils a top Muslim politician organized thugs in a part of Colombo to make a grand Muslim contribution to the holocaust. It is worth mentioning also that at this time last year some members of the All Ceylon Jamiath-ul Ulema were in Geneva canvassing Muslim votes for the Sri Lankan side. This year the ACJU is in the dock. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it is difficult to imagine a more loyal minority than the Muslims. They have in fact been servile to the Sinhalese power elite.

  • UNHRC Genocide Resolution Let Off Rajspakshe Swamy

    The much talked about Resolution by The UNHRC is, as anticipated, attracting lot of sound bites.

    A sane Group calls for India to vote for it censuring Sri Lanka , while another motley group including Salman Khurshid who hums and haws(probably the after effects of his NGO scam!), who cite India’s security concerns.

    Surprising fact is that Dr.Subramanian Swamyhas joined the motley group that wants the Resolution to be voted against.

    Swamy, at his initiative best’ met Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Robert Blake and impressed on him that the Resolution would help the revival of the LTTE and asked the Obama Administration to undertake bilateral consultations with Colombo to work out a consensus on the draft of the alleged human rights violations in Sri Lanka proposed to be tabled in UNHRC in Geneva.

    “Under no circumstances the resolution has any indication that President Rajapaksa and others are guilty of war crimes. Whatever has to be done has to be done by the Government of Sri Lanka and not by international agencies. The demand for international agencies essentially comes from supporters of LTTE’.

    1.How does an enquiry would revive  LTTE?

    As I understand, so do most  about the Killing ways of the LTTE and it is its lust for blood had weakened the case of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

    2.How come the bilateral talks would not spur the activities of LTTE, if a motion could reawaken it?

    The US sponsored resolution on issues related to Sri Lanka has now been taken up by the United Nations Human Rights Commission for discussion. Shenali Waduge reviews that the UNHRC Resolution against Sri Lanka is nothing about “accountability” “pace of implementation” or any of the gibberish international statements claims to project.

    If so, despite resolutions against Israel on “accountability” the UNHRC has done nothing against Israel. Instead Israel has broken ties with UNHRC completely. If every nation in the UN has equal status, or rather is supposed to have equal status, what’s all this bullying with regard to Sri Lanka?

     

    India, the US and many other nations joined government backed INGOs/NGOs, think tanks like International Crisis Group, human rights organisations like Amnesty International, and their local mouthpieces concluding that Sri Lanka faced an unwinnable war. Their solution was nothing better than the separation of Sri Lanka along the lines of Kosovo and now with the Liberation of Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) eliminated it is the 13th amendment being used en route to the eventual separation of Sri Lanka .

    The Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution outlaws slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime. It was passed by the Senate on April 8, 1864, by the House on Jan 31, 1865, and adopted on Dec 6, 1865. The Thirteenth Amendment completed the abolition of slavery in the United States, which had begun with President Abraham Lincoln issuing the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. This resolution will be discussed on March 4, 2013.”

    3.If the Resolution does not, in one para the Sri Lankan states that this is gibberish and has nothing to censure’ why Does Sri Lanka oppose it?

    4.He states as no action against Israel has been taken after a motion,why pass a Resolution against Sri Lanka?

    He adds that all states ‘must be treated equally’?

    Swamy’s argument that support of the Resolution would spur LTTE activities is like stating that hanging of terrorists and jailing of rapists would spur terrorists and Rapists!

           The Human Rights Council,

           Guided by the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenants on Human Rights and other relevant instruments,

          Recalling Council resolutions 5/1 and 5/2 on institution building of the Human Rights Council,  

    Reaffirming that States must ensure that any measure taken to combat terrorism complies with their obligations under international law, in particular international human rights, refugee and humanitarian law, as applicable,

           Taking note of the report of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission of Sri Lanka and its findings and recommendations, and acknowledging its possible contribution to the process of national reconciliation in Sri Lanka,

           Welcoming the constructive recommendations contained in the Commission’s report, including the need to credibly investigate widespread allegations of extra-judicial killings and enforced disappearances, demilitarize the north of Sri Lanka, implement impartial land dispute resolution mechanisms, re-evaluate detention policies, strengthen formerly independent civil institutions, reach a political settlement on the devolution of power to the provinces, promote and protect the right of freedom of expression for all and enact rule of law reforms,

           Noting with concern that the report does not adequately address serious allegations of violations of international law,

    1.             Calls upon the Government of Sri Lanka to implement the constructive recommendations made in the report of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission and to take all necessary additional steps to fulfill its relevant legal obligations and commitment to initiate credible and independent actions to ensure justice, equity, accountability and reconciliation for all Sri Lankans;

    2.             Requests the Government of Sri Lanka to present, as expeditiously as possible, a comprehensive action plan detailing the steps that the Government has taken and will take to implement the recommendations made in the Commission’s report, and also to address alleged violations of international law;

    3.             Encourages the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and relevant special procedures mandate holders to provide, in consultation with, and with the concurrence of, the Government of Sri Lanka, advice and technical assistance on implementing the above-mentioned steps; and requests the Office of the High Commissioner to present a report on the provision of such assistance to the Human Rights Council at its twenty-second session.”

    Dr.Swamy in his maniacal aversion to Karunaidhi, must avoid echoing Sri Lanka’s senseless arguments.

    In this process every on e seems to forget the issue of Tamil Genocide.

    Amidst reports of widespread sexual violence by the Sri Lankan army on suspected LTTE rebels, the Human Right Watch (HRW) has sought an international investigation.

    The investigation demands came after a report, ” ‘We will teach you a lesson’: Sexual violence against Tamils by Sri Lankan Security Forces“.

    The report is said to have contained a list of 75 cases of rape and sexual assault. These incidents happened all across Sri Lanka, from 2006 to 2012.

    The majority of the cases are said to have happened during the armed conflict (with LTTE) that ended in may 2009.

    The conflict ended almost three years ago, but the incidents of sexual violence continues till this day, the report quoted.

    The revelations were confirmed by HRW Asia Director Brad Adams.

    “The Sri Lankan security forces have committed untold numbers of rapes of Tamil men and women in custody. These are not just wartime atrocities but continue to the present, putting every Tamil man/woman arrested for suspected LTTE involvement at serious risk”, he was quoted in a news report published in national daily the Hindu.

    ஜே எச் (JH) என்பவர் 23 வயதுடைய ஒரு தமிழர். இவர் ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தில் கல்வி கற்றுக்கொண்டிருந்த நேரம் 2012 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் மாதத்தில் குடும்பம் சார்ந்த காரணங்களுக்காக கொழும்புக்குத் திரும்பினார். ஒரு மாதம் கழிந்த பின்னர், வேலை விட்டு வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிக்கொண்டிருந்த நேரத்தில், ஒரு வெள்ளை வேனில் வந்த பலர் அதிலிருந்து குதித்தார்கள். ஒரு விசாரணைக்கு தான் தேவைப்படுவதாகக் கூறி, அவர்கள் தனது கண்களைக் கட்டி, ஒரு மணித்தியாலத்திற்கும் அதிகமான நேரம் பயணித்து, தெரியாத ஒரு இடத்திற்கு தன்னை எடுத்துச்சென்றதாக அவர் மனித உரிமைகள் கண்காணிப்புக் குழுவிடம் கூறினார்:

    கட்டியிருந்த எனது கண்களை அவர்கள் அவிழ்த்துவிட்ட [போது] நான் அங்கு ஏனைய நான்கு நபர்கள் இருந்த ஒரு அறையைக் கண்டேன். நான் ஒரு நாற்காலியில் கட்டப்பட்டு எல்ரீரீஈ தரப்புடன் எனக்கிருக்கும் தொடர்புகள் பற்றியும் அண்மையில் வெளிநாட்டிற்குசென்ற காரணம் பற்றியும் விசாரிக்கப்பட்டேன். அவர்கள் எனது ஆடைகளை உரிந்து என்னை அடிக்கத் தொடங்கினார்கள். நான் மின்சாரக் கம்பிகளினால் அடிக்கப்பட்டு, எரியும் சிகரட்டுக்களினால் சூடுவைக்கப்பட்டு, பெற்றோல் திணிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு பொலித்தின் உறையைக் கொண்டு மூச்சுத்திணறடிக்கப்பட்டேன். பின்னர் அந்த இரவு, நான் ஒரு சிறிய அறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டேன். தொடர்ச்சியாக மூன்று நாட்கள் நான் பாலியல் வல்லுறவுக்கு உட்படுத்தப்பட்டு சித்திரவதை செய்யப்பட்டேன். முதலாவது இரவு, ஒருவர் தனியாக வந்து என்னை குதவழியாகப் பாலியலுறவுக்கு உட்படுத்தினார். இரண்டாம் மற்றும் மூன்றாம் நாள் இரவுகளில், இரண்டு பேர் எனது அறைக்கு வந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் என்னை குதவழியாகப் பாலியலுறவுக்கு உட்படுத்திவிட்டு அவர்களுடன் வாய்வழிப் பாலியல் உறவுக்கும் என்னை வற்புறுத்தினார்கள். இந்தப் பாலியல் வல்லுறவுகளின் பின்னர் எல்ரீரீஈ தரப்புடன் எனக்கு தொடர்புகளிருப்பதாக ஒப்புக்கொண்டு ஒரு வாக்குமூலத்தில் நான் கையொப்பமிட்டேன்.

    ரீ ஜே (TJ ) என்பவரின் சம்பவம்

    ரீ ஜே (TJ ) என்பவர் 19 வயதுடைய ஒருவர். இவர் ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தில் தனது கற்கைகளைப் பூர்த்திசெய்து விட்டு இலங்கைக்குத் திரும்பியவர். 2012 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் ஒரு மாலை நேரத்தில், ரீ ஜே (TJ ) வவுனியாவில் (Vavuniya) ஒரு நண்பரைச் சந்தித்து விட்டு வீடு திரும்பிய நேரத்தில் அவருக்கு அருகில் ஒரு வெள்ளை வேனை நிறுத்தி சிவில் உடைகளை அணிந்திருந்த ஏறக்குறைய ஐந்து அல்லது ஆறு நபர்கள் அதிலிருந்து குதித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ரீ ஜே (TJ ) ஐ பலவந்தமாக இழுத்து வேனினுள் தள்ளி, அவரின் கண்களைக் கட்டி, தெரியாத ஒரு இடத்திற்கு அவரை கொண்டுசென்றார்கள் என அவர் மனித உரிமைகள் கண்காணிப்புக் குழுவிடம் கூறினார்:

    கட்டியிருந்த எனது கண்களை அவர்கள் அவிழ்த்துவிட்ட போது நான் ஒரு அறையில் இருப்பதைக் கண்டேன். அங்கு ஐந்து பேர் இருந்தனர். அவர்களில் ஒருவர் இராணுவ சீருடையில் காணப்பட்டார். ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தில் எல்ரீரீஈ தரப்புடன் எனக்குள்ள அலுவல் பற்றி அவர்கள் என்னிடம் விசாரிக்கத் தொடங்கினார்கள். வெளிநாட்டில் எல்ரீரீஈ தரப்புடன் எனக்கிருக்கின்ற தொடர்புகள் பற்றி அவர்கள் என்னிடம் வினவினார்கள். நான் பதிலளிக்கவில்லை. அவர்கள் என்னைத் துன்புறுத்தத் தொடங்கினார்கள். முதலில் அறையப்பட்டும் குத்தப்பட்டும் நான் தாக்கப்பட்டேன். அப்போது அவர்கள் என்னைக் கடுமையாகத் துன்புறுத்தத் தொடங்கினார்கள். எனக்கு தடிகளால் அடிக்கப்பட்டு, எரியும் சிக்கரெட்டுக்களால் சூடுவைக்கப்பட்டதுடன் எனது தலை ஒரு நீர் பீப்பாயினுள் அமிழ்த்தப்பட்டது. கேள்விகள் கேட்கப்பட்ட நேரத்தில் உடைகள் உரியப்பட்டு நிர்வாணமாக்கப்பட்டேன்’.
