Cyclone Phailin hit Odisha (Orissa) this evening.
The cyclone is presently around 200 km southeast of Gopalpur.
The Indian Meteorological department in its latest update said that the cyclone Phailin is expected to hit this evening around 6 pm.

9:38 pm: Categorising the cyclone as very severe, the MeT department said that the intensity of rainfall will increase within few hours.
9:27 pm: The Met Department says that the cyclone will remain ‘very severe’ for at least six hours.
9:21 pm: Cyclone Phailin makes landfall, slams into Gopalpur in Odisha at over 200 kmph. Storm surge of 3 to 3.5 metres expected.
8:59 pm: 183 trains cancelled, 22 partially cancelled, 26 diverted due to cyclone.
8:42 pm: Cyclone Phailin has slowed but is expected to hit the east coast soon.
8:29 pm: 30 people stuck in Vonturu in Kaviti Mandal, Srikakulam. NDRF team of Rajapuram on standby, to rescue them after cyclone passes, ANI report.
8:13 pm: The MeT department will be briefing on cyclone situation shortly.
