  • Does Airtel Cheat Customers?

    Bharti Airtel Lanka

I had used Airtel for some time and found that they were over billing(post paid).

I used to get reversion of the amount after quite a fight.

    Disgusted I came out.

Contrary to what Private Companies are projecting by a Blitz of advertisements, I have found BSNL to be honest and their connectivity is very good.

Here is a complaint of Airtel.

The 2 G scam in India has been attracting global attention and indicates how some companies might have benefited by corruption in the licensing system . The overall value of the scam benefit was estimated at Rs 176000 crores. This benefit is deemed to have been enjoyed by the mobile companies and it is surmised that around 30% of this could have been paid out as bribes to various agencies .

One may wonder how a commercial organization that pays out such huge sums as bribes can recover these expenses. One possibility is that they must be ripping the customers with false billing or planning to do the same in due course when they start their activities.

Recently a case has come to the notice of public that a few executives of MTS were involved in using genuine customer applications for issuing data cards to others by switching photographs. The executives have been arrested and are being prosecuted for offences under different sections. (Read the full story here).

In the meantime we need to also observe how honest are the companies who were not involved in the 2G licensing scam and would like to place in the public domain my own experience of Airtel who according to my considered opinion are resorting to a systematic false billing for their customers.

I have heard of problems in over charging in prepaid accounts where the customers cannot verify the call details and duplication of calls made to frequent destination numbers so that the customer cannot identify the false calls,  just to boost up sales .

However it appears that the fraudulent practices in the 3G billing is developing in to scam proportions and needs the attention of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) immediately.

From my own experience, I have raised a complaint  ( complaint  resting with the Nodal Officer Bangalore with a mail acknowledged on 22nd February 2012)  with Airtel in recent days on the following counts:

    1. On a 3 G mobile account there were continuous over billing on data usage for three consecutive days. I raised an alarm and then used MNP to shift out of Airtel. Very reluctantly and after several complaints to the nodal officer the MNP port out request was accepted.

    2. I had a 3 G data card bought recently and found that it was not capable of providing 3 G speeds. I raised a complaint, asked for closure of account since number portability is not available on data cards and kept away the data card. I also raised a request for cancellation of the purchase and return of the money paid for the data card. However in the next month, Airtel billed lots of data usage and sent a bill indicating that there was false data accounting here.

    3. The fraudulent approach of Airtel was also evident in the fact that when complaint tickets were raised, there was a prompt reply that it would be attended within the next 24 hours. After that there would be a missed call from a non returnable number  which would be disconnected after a few rings. This would be followed by an e-mail that the Company has attended the complaint and they are happy to know that it had been resolved.

I  have been confronted with this fraudulent attitude several times and every time lodged new complaints to continue the process. In similar false billing case in Airtel DTH I have pursued the complaint on several occassions and finally able to get rid of the false billing. Under DTH, Airtel has a system where without the customer’s authorization, they keep activating past top ups and send bills. They threaten to close the main account if Top Ups are not renewed. I feel all this is part of their plan to boost up billing.

In order to confront them on the 3 G data card billing, I have demanded that Airtel submit me an expert report of data speeds available under 3G data cards in different parts of Bangalore and prove that their warranties on the 3 G data speed (Upto 7.2 MB speed) is true. I have also demanded that they submit me details of my data usage which includes the URLs visited and IP addresses allocated. I am awaiting the response.

I have copied my complaints to TRAI also.

Unless TRAI takes some strict action against the mobile operators regarding false billing, this will be a scam bigger than the 2G or the Nigerian Scam.

The incident can be treated as a suspected Salami attack by a mobile service provider  on its clients and CBI can also come in suo moto to investigate.

In the meantime, I am bringing this to public notice so that other customers of Airtel particularly in Bangalore may inform me if they have similar problems. We maybe able to take up a case with the Consumer Forum to ensure that this organized ripping of customers is put an end to. I also invite Consumer activists in Bangalore to get in touch  with me so that we can take up a public interest litigation and demand a TRAI enquiry into the billing practices of Airtel. Probably in the PIL we need to request the Court to order a CBI enquiry also.

  • Make The Brahmins Shiver-Karunanidhi. You are Shivering.

    Kanimozhi with Rajapakshe
    Kanimozhi and Rajapakshe.

Karunanidhi, the self-appointed Dravidian Leader of Dravidians(?) and Leader Of Tamils( who sat through the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanks and whose daughter Kanimozhi hobnobbed with Rajapakshe in SriLanka and accepted bouquets and gifts from him ),having been made to bite the dust in the Tamil Nadu hustings, unable to stem the war of acrimony and struggle to capture his party by his sons and besieged by 2 G scam has been trying vigorously to capture the imagination of the voters.

His Party’s Self-determination for Tamil Nadu and a separate Statehood  has been given a decent burial and he can not revive it now for fear of the party being banned.

He is a chap who went on to bury The Constitution of India(that’s what he said, while burning a copy of the Constitution)  only to declare later in the Court that he had burned a piece of paper and not the Constitution!

He is a guy who laid down on Rail Track knowing pretty well that there are no Trains that will pass through then.

He is the moral authority on Kannagi who has a Wife and ‘Thunaivi’ openly

Nor can he cry hoarse on the domination of North over South by shouting ‘வடக்கு வாழ்கிறது ,தெற்கு தேய்கிறது ‘ as his son’s post as a Central Minister and the fate of his Daughter Kanimozhi and great-nephew  Dayanidhi Maran hinges on Sonia Gandhi‘s whims; he had to wait on wheel chair to get postings for his relatives at the Centre, wait for hours to meet Sonia Gandhi.

What of his much touted ‘Self Respect?’

His call for demanding Devikulam and Peermedu from Kerala for Tamil Nadu in the wake of Mullai Periyar Dam issue had no takers.

Nor can he talk about Hindi as he is  at the feet of Hindi.

So his favorite whipping  boy is Brahmins(that his statements that he is against Brahminism and not against Brahmins is another comedy).

Brahmins do not beg for Reservations nor do they call other Communities names.

    They do not harass SC/ST.

Take the Statistics of SC/ST harassment cases-how many Brahmins were involved?

When DMK came to power late Bhaktavatsalam, former CM of Tamil Nadu, stated that vermin has infested Tamil Nadu, which has come true and Tamil Nadu has not been able to get rid of these thugs, who find opportunity in every thing to steal from the Public.

Brahmins never retaliated for it is not in their blood.

They quietly slipped away from Tamil Nadu to other States and Countries.

Will Karunanidhi  divulge the names of his Doctors, Lawyers and other Professionals whom he goes to for advice?

I know personally a couple of Doctors , Lawyers and Accountants who are Brahmins with whom Karunanidhi consults.

What is Karunanidhi’s contribution to Tamil Literature as compared to Nakkerar(not porn tabloid Nakkeran), Agasthiyar, Tholkappiyar,Uruthinkannanaar,Kapilar,Gnana Sambandar,Periyazhvaar, and a host of others from the Sangam period to Bharathi,U.Ve.Saminatha Iyer,Ki,Va.Jagannathan?

Karunanidhi can write street Prose which sounds nice to the ears but does not  stand the scrutiny of Tamil Grammar, convert Tholkaapiyam, a great Work, into soft porn in Tholkappiyappoonga.

He has not so far replied to mistakes pointed out in his Tholkaapiyappoonga in a Book , which incidentally was not written by a Brahmin

To day nobody bothers about castes, ask any youngster,he will ask you’what’.

    If Tamil Magazines/Papers praise him then they are’நடு நிலை ஏடுகள் ; other wise they are’மவுண்ட் ரோடு மஹா விஷ்ணு, பார்ப்பன ஏடுகள்’

Disgusting creature worthy to be ignored.

I write this piece only to high light his non sense and double speak.

This author does not believe in divisions in the Society as portrayed by Karunanidhi nor is he against those who do nor happen to be Brahmins.

In the strictest sense of Hinduism there is no Brahmin today.

(Why cant the Government take action against him for inciting violence and breeding enmity between Communities amounting to Law and Order problem?

    Make Brahmins shiver, says Karunanidhi.
    பார்ப்பனக் கூட்டம் நடுங்க வேண்டும்

  • 2G Etisalat closes operation, Subscribers! File Damage Claims.

The Etisalat Tower in Dubai. Based in Abu Dhab...
    Image via Wikipedia

UAE-based Etisalat has decided to shut down its India operations — Etisalat DB that has over 16.7 lakh mobile subscribers — following the Supreme Court order which cancelled 122telecom licences in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

In the 2G scam, the  consumers are the casualty.

What is shocking is the people who have swindled get excuses, by hiring highly priced attorneys from the Law through the Provisions of Law meant to protect the innocent!

Balwa,Kalaignar TV,Kanimozhi, Ruias,Khaitans honchos of  Reliance are scot free.

Now Etisalat is quitting. They will pass on the loss(if they have suffered at all) to their shareholders, the perpetrators, the executives will go scot-free.

The Government of India, read Congress and DMK,having swindled the exchequer now will make new set of guidelines to make more money.

I suggest that the affected subscribers file damages against Government of India which should in turn claim the damages from Etisalat for having obtained Licences illegally and leaving the subscribers in the lurch.

I am whistling in the dark of course.

( I know some smart-alec lawyer will call me an idiot and that there is no sense in what I am talking.)

Law is something , Natural Justice is something else.

“Etisalat, which holds the majority stake Etisalat DB, is the second foreign telecom company to exit India after Baharain Telecom which offloaded its 42.7 per cent stake in S Tel.

In an e-mailed statement Etisalat said, “As unanimously resolved by the Board this evening, Etisalat DB will be taking steps to reduce operating costs, including the suspension of its network and services, pursuant to the terms of its UAS licenses.”

“The decision has been taken in order to protect the interests of all stakeholders and to avoid incurring further costs at this time of rapid change and continued uncertainty in the Indian telecommunications sector,” Etisalat said.

Further information, including the official cessation date will be communicated shortly to customers through the appropriate channels, the statement added.

  • Rainbow Rose in Japan, Video

    Rose in Rainbow shades.
    Rainbow Rose.

“In 2004, two dutch companies, River Flowers and F.J. Zandbergen, experimented and successfully grew a rose that had its petals rainbow colored. As petals get their nourishment through stem, the idea is to split the stem into several channels and dip each one in a different colored water. This way all the colors will be drawn by the stem into petals and resultant rose will have all the colors in it. The same method can be applied to other flowers especially to Chrysanthemum and Hydrangea. You can use the same idea to color any flower, anyway you like.
