At first pass it looks like the SUV drives into the manhole, gets stuck and as a result flips over. But if you watch closely, you’ll see that the manhole cover blows after the SUV drives over it, causing it to flip. Yes, our skeptic meter is still tingling, but there doesn’t seem to be an underlying motive, in this case, to destroy an SUV. Unless of course Range Rover is in on it, though we simply can’t imagine them destroying a Free Lander 2 in the hopes of some viral press, which by our accounts is not necessarily a positive one.
That all said, it’s pretty astounding that a manhole cover can produce that much force to flip a vehicle in a forward like trajectory. In Hollywood they tend to use explosives to achieve this kind of movie magic.
