Locusts invade Detroit.Locusts in Detroit.
A swarm of locusts covered Detroit yesterday, raising fears that Chicago could be next.
Michigan authorities sent out drones to spray pesticides over the city to prevent damage by the swarm, which numbers about 50,000 locusts, said a spokeswoman for the City of Detroit.
The locust alert comes on the eve of the bankruptcy of Detroit. “First there was the collapse of the auto industry, then there was the financial collapse and the bankruptcy of the city and now… locusts,” said longtime resident, Jimmy Bellicort.
UFO sightings have increased of late in general, and in South Africa in particular.
Report by The Telegraph UK.
Gert Jordaan, founder of UFO Research of SA, said that between February 21 and February 27 many people reported seeing bright orange lights and flames in the sky.
He said that while some sightings could be attributed to meteor showers, others could have a more interesting explanation.
“Though meteors do glow orange, some of the sightings reported radical change in direction and speed. Some objects even remained stationary for five minutes or so. There might be some UFO phenomena occurring in areas around Cape Town,” he told the Times newspaper.
Mr Jordaan said one other explanation was that there could be “some top-secret aircraft” being tested in the Western Cape.
“The second possibility is that life from another planet is surveying ours for making contact and offering knowledge.”

1.Those who were sent to Old Age Homes by the Wealthy sons and Daughters.
2.Those who had no body to turn to but economically independent.
3.Those who were economically downtrodden.
In the first category thee were two sub groups, one where the children were abroad and had no intention of returning to India and another where the children are in India and in some cases in the same city where the Elderly have been sent to.
I will be covering the issue in a couple of posts with Statistics.
What struck me first are the Statistics
.* Statistics in this Post are from HelpAge India.
I am also posting Statistics from Other sources.
Elder Abuse
Contrary to popular perception, the sons were the main cause for dumping( I deliberately use the Term) and the verbal abuse of parents, and not the Daughter’s in Law!
56 % of the parents were sent to Old Age Homes because os f sons and 23 % because of Daughters’ in Law.
Amidst reports of widespread sexual violence by the Sri Lankan army on suspected LTTE rebels, the Human Right Watch (HRW) has sought an international investigation.
The investigation demands came after a report, ” ‘We will teach you a lesson’: Sexual violence against Tamils by Sri Lankan Security Forces“.
The report is said to have contained a list of 75 cases of rape and sexual assault. These incidents happened all across Sri Lanka, from 2006 to 2012.
The majority of the cases are said to have happened during the armed conflict (with LTTE) that ended in may 2009.
The conflict ended almost three years ago, but the incidents of sexual violence continues till this day, the report quoted.
The revelations were confirmed by HRW Asia Director Brad Adams.
“The Sri Lankan security forces have committed untold numbers of rapes of Tamil men and women in custody. These are not just wartime atrocities but continue to the present, putting every Tamil man/woman arrested for suspected LTTE involvement at serious risk”, he was quoted in a news report published in national daily the Hindu.

That’s why it was surprising this year when spacewalking astronauts had to improvise and resort to a toothbrush to fix a key power system aboard the International Space Station. The incident seemed almost to come straight out of fiction. It’s not quite an “inanimate carbon rod,” but every Simpsons fan has seen this scene play out before. I have come across some strange stories in 2012.
I have blogged on some of them.
I have found in Discovery that most of the stories have been listed.
