Wary of even a half-fit VVS Laxman, Australian captain Ricky Ponting on Friday said that in case the Indian batsman plays the second Test despite back spasm, he will not be allowed a “runner” if his injury begins to bother him during the match starting on Saturday.
Laxman won’t be allowed runner this time, says Ponting – The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournaments/australia-in-india/top-stories/Laxman-wont-be-allowed-runner-this-time-says-Ponting/articleshow/6714623.cms#write#ixzz11pBPoMeW
Ponting is right. If Laxman has been carrying injuries he is not to be allowed a runner. He batted a few minutes in the first innings, that’s all.Game should have a level playing field.
If Laxman has been injured prior to the match, he should not have been selected.if he has picked up an injury during the match, he should either play with the injury or refrain from playing..
Allowing runner rule is to be reviewed.
