Suspects in a gang-rape case . who were led by police to a courthouse in the Birdhum district near the village of Subalpur. Indian police said have arrested 13 people after a 20-year-old village woman was allegedly gang-raped on orders from tribal elders. Picture: AFP Source: AFP Men living in the village have also fled from their homes on the orders of tribal elders as police told of how locals tried to prevent her from reporting her ordeal. A total of 13 men have been arrested over the assault on the 20-year-old which was allegedly as punishment for “dishonouring” her community, a scattering of mud huts set amid palm trees and fields of rice and mustard. Her ordeal on Tuesday night, when she was taken to a thatched shed and repeatedly assaulted for a relationship she was having with a Muslim man, has rekindled the outrage in India over the treatment of women. Neighbours described the victim as a charming woman and said she planned to marry the Muslim companion. Her Crime?
She had sexual Relations with a man from outside the Community.
The girl was repeatedly gang raped and the whole Village witnessed this obnoxious inhuman and despicable incidence.
While the Politicians are playing the usual game of Buck passing, the Police, who went to arrest the culprits after a hue and cry over the affair, were admonished by the Villagers for’ attempting to destroy their Honor!.
I am not sure whether Literacy has reached the Village or despite it , the Tribal remain Tribal.
Those from the North East may take what I am stating below with a pinch of salt .
My Brother’s daughter had spent considerable time in the North East of India, about Ten to Twelve years.
She used to narrate me incidences of Debauchery by men and women who were already married.
She used to add that this activity is normally accepted, people do not attach much importance to it and take it as a matter of routine.
I was skeptical till we employed a Family from the North east to do our house hold chores.
Over a period of time, the Maid’s Family details unfolded I was dumb struck at the level of Immorality.
I dispensed with their service.
I have come across many other similar cases.
Would any one from the North East clarify whether these are isolated Phenomena?
”
Villagers told TOI on Thursday that after thekangaroo court ordered her to be sexually savaged, the woman was placed on a raised bamboo platform so that the gang-rape was viewed by the entire village, children included.
“If the family does not pay up, go and enjoy yourselves,” is what headman and now prime accused Boloi Murdy allegedly told the men.
The woman’s family alleged she and her lover, a man from a nearby village, were tied up in Murdy’s courtyard, where a kangaroo court was held and handed down the punishment — a Rs 50,000 fine for the man and gang rape for the woman. Some villagers told TOI that the woman’s cries rent the air all night but no one stepped forward to help her. Even her family, who lives 50 metres away, could not rescue her.”
On January 21 I posted a blog based on a News item from Zee News that a Punjab Girl was gang raped,Drugged, filmed and thrown out .
Now the Police have found out that the Story was fabricated by the victim to frame her boy friend’s wife!
Moral,.Never take a woman’s complaint for granted, cross check.
Story:
A Moga woman’s story of her kidnapping from Chandigarh and dumping here after gangrape in a moving car has turned out to false.
She posed as victim to frame her boyfriend’s wife who had got her into prison on the accusation of attempted murder by poking with HIV-infected needles
She was out on bail when she made up the story.
Along with suspect Gurveer Kaur (24), the police have also arrested Rohtash Kumar, who claimed to have brought the woman to hospital in her unconscious state. Suspects Gurveer Kaur, Rohtash, Ramesh, and Sunil Kumar are charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 195 (submitting false evidence to get someone imprisoned for life), 211 (false charge with intent to injure) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The plan also involved consensual sex between Gurveer Kaur and Rohtash Kumar to make it easy to prove rape.
A year ago, Gurveer and her boyfriend, Sunil Kumar, were charged with torturing Sunil’s wife to the extent of sometimes even poking her with unsterilised needles, which gave her HIV-AIDS. The target became blind because of the repeated assault and on Friday, doctors at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh operated on her eyes.
In January last year, after the victim’s father took the matter to the Punjab director general of police, Gurveer and Sunil were charged with attempt to murder. In Abohar jail, they became friends with Rohtash and Ramesh and made them partners in the conspiracy.
“All four suspects, including Sunil Kumar who is in jail, now are suspects in the fake gangrape case,” inspector general of police Nirmal Singh Dhillon said here on Monday. “A hunt is on for Ramesh. Gurveer Kaur and Rohtash had consensual sex to prove rape and put her enemies behind bars.
When Jytoi Singh Pandey died in a gang rape case in Delhi, people rose in anger against this atrocity, correctly so.
In the frenzy the clamor descended into the Rights of Woman to dress as they please.
Many of the women who participated in the protests were over made up for a spontaneous reaction (with grief!) and wer bent on getting Media attention to the extent that a Girl had artificial Blood poured on her hands ,a woman bared her behind with a writing ‘Don’t rape Me”
Read my blog.
Indian Bollywood film actress Sherlyn Chopra Photo: AFP
This made an MP and the son of the President to decry that these women are ‘dented and painted’ causing an out cry in the media and he was pilloried.
Now in a land women activists protest vociferously against the us of women as Sex in advertisement films, are quiet for the opening of a Playboy Club in Goa and a Girl posing Nude in Playboy for the first time.
Look at what Girl has to say on this.
‘My sister is proud of my achievement. I haven’t told anything to my mother, but I think I will visit her and tell her that she has to accept me the way I am.” Critics have complained that the magazine has billed her as a Bollywood legend, despite only appearing in a handful of films and being best known for Bigg Boss, India‘s answer to Big Brother”
This is not ‘Painted and dented”?
“Sherlyn Chopra, 28, will appear in the November issue.
However, a series of teasing interviews has provoked a round of condemnation from women’s rights activists who accuse her of undermining the fight against sexual harassment and abuse.
Miss Chopra herself has admitted that she has not yet told her mother about the Playboy shoot.
“It is not an easy task to be nude in front of the camera and look good at the same time,” said Miss Chopra in an interview with the BBC’sHindi service.
She added that she had written to Playboy asking to model and received a response within days.
There is a spate comments on the new Delhi igang rape, which cost the life of a girl, Jyoti SIngh Pandey.
Protests were organised to punish the guilty immediately without dragging for years.
So far very good.
Then some body like President Pronab Mukherjee’s son,Mohn Bhagat of RSS , Asaram.. and a host of others
The protagonists for immediate Justice clamour later reached the heights of calling every man as rapist waiting to rape any one in sight deteriorated into question of feminine Freedom to dress and move about any time of the day..
Delhi gang rape protest
Comments.
“It would have been comforting if vile foolishness in India had been the domain of the few. But Asaram Bapu is not alone when he says one hand cannot clap by itself. Or that taking diksha, reciting a mantra and pleading with her rapists as brothers might have saved the young girl that fateful night.
The clergy of the Jamaat-e-Islami-Hind are not alone when they advocate co-educational institutes to be shut down, pre-marital sex to be outlawed and girls to dress in sober and dignified clothes as ways to prevent rape.
Mohan Bhagwat is not alone when he asserts more rapes happen in ‘India’ than ‘Bharat’ — the first a synecdoche for promiscuous modernity; the latter for a more pious and traditional order where women live within boundaries prescribed by men. Abhijit Mukherjee is not alone when he mocks women protesters as “dented, painted” girls. Nor are Abu Azmi, Kailash Vijayvargiya or the Chhattisgarh home minister who says minors in the state are being raped because their stars are not favourable….
The media reacted violently to these comments.
”
Over the past few days, the national media has rebuffed these men with an acetylene rage. Apologise, they have shouted. Retract your thoughts. Or at least be shamed into withdrawing the impunity with which you say such things in public.
But this rage has triggered its own counter-currents. Madhu Kishwar, feminist and editor of Manushi, for instance, is scathing about the media’s tone. “What kind of imperialist vocabulary is this? If you treat everyone who does not agree with you as aliens and fools, if you refuse to accept them as your own people, what gives you the right to dictate to them? What makes you think they will even entertain your criticism?” she asks.”
..Ad guru Santosh Desai chimes in to warn of a backlash: “Media in India is more loud than representative,” he says. “If the framing of this debate gets too vociferous and extreme, it can galvanise the opposition in disturbing ways. Our society has always had a way of evolving organically, using a combination of strategies to create space for new ideas. As long as that change is gradual, the anxiety it produces is also gradual. If one gets too absolutist, the whole thing can boomerang.”..
Chetan Bhagat offers a variation on the theme in his Times of Indiacolumn, where he first divides the populace into four classes: One, the political elite; Two, the business elite; Threes, the rising lower and middle classes “with a certain amount of affluence and education”; and Four, “people with limited education, abysmal standards of living and little hope for a better future.” The Threes may be the heroes of Bhagat’s stories — and their hero in turn — but here he takes them to task for “imposing their new-found modern values” on the less-progressive masses “For example, Fours may see women-men relationships in a regressive way. The Threes, exposed to the latest Western beliefs, will mock them.” The column offers instead a more peace-loving recipe for change:”
What exactly are the issues?
A Girl was raped in the Capital of India.
Accused have been charge sheeted.
The case is being heard.
People have expressed their anger against this despicable act.
Now what we need to do is…….
To make sure that rape law is made more stringent and be made Non bailable(at the same time it is to be ensured that it is not misused as in Anti Dowry laws).
The perpetrators should not be executed but to live with the mark of a rapist after serving Life term.
They should be ostracized by the Society.
Women should ensure that they are safe by wearing non provocative dress in public and be careful about moving in their own interest.
This is not an issue of Male vs Female, it is a question of Life.
You can not control other human beings at all times, human nature is unpredictable.
The Delhigang Rape accused planned to rape some one and if they encountered any resistance, they planned to kill the victim or those who interfered with them.
Their target was not Jyoti Singh Singh Pandey specifically. (Damini,Nirbhaya).
Just any woman will do.
From the interview of the Clinical psychologist it is clear that they were under the influence of Alcohol.
Jyoti Singh Pandey with a friend was looking for transport after watching The Life of Pi in a South Delhi Mall.
This is how the incident unfolded .
Photo of 6th accused of Delhi Gang rape
“The accused “decided ahead of time” they would look for a woman and “intended to kill her”, the police report claims.
The gang boarded a bus that the alleged gang leader, Ram Singh, drove by day to ferry children to school and went out in search of a victim. They found the student accompanied by a male friend who were looking for transport home after watching the movie “Life of Pi” at a South Delhi shopping mall, according to the report submitted to the court.
Police arrested Singh the next day after tracing the bus using security camera footage from a hotel. He was still wearing a T-shirt stained with the victim’s blood and “on sustained interrogation” confessed and led the police to his accomplices, the police report said.
The other accused are Singh’s brother Mukesh, Akshay Kumar Singh, alias Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma, all of whom are expected to plead not guilty when the trial begins. Mukesh Singh claims he was tortured while in police custody, his lawyer said on Thursday.
A sixth member of the gang, a teenager, is being processed as a juvenile, has not so far been charged and will be tried separately. Police have said they are conducting bone tests to determine his age as they suspect he may be over 18 years old.
IRON RODS
After being caught by police, Ram Singh produced two bloodied iron rods from the bus, which had been used to beat the victim and her friend, and were inserted into her body, causing massive organ damage, the report claims.
According to the police dossier, the accused turned the lights out and took turns driving the bus, while two men held the woman down and another raped her. She suffered bite marks on several parts of her body, but also fought back and managed to bite her attackers. Their injuries are part of the case against them, the police report said.
After removing part of the victim’s intestines and throwing both her and her companion from the moving vehicle, they then tried to drive the bus over her. But her companion pulled her away, the report said.
They were left “badly injured and bleeding” on a flyover in south Delhi and were found naked by a highway worker who gave the man a shirt and called the police.
The victim, whom Reuters has opted not to name because Indian law generally prohibits doing so, died in a Singapore hospital of infection and “multiple organ failure” two weeks after the crime.
After the attack, Ram Singh tried to wipe the bus clean with the victims’ clothes, then made a fire to burn the clothes and other incriminating evidence, the report alleges. Witnesses from the neighbourhood he lived in came to the fire to warm themselves, the report said.
The dossier purports to rely on some 80 witnesses, along with DNA matches, mobile telephone tower records, video evidence, stolen goods belonging to the victims in possession of the accused, the bloodied clothes of the suspects, and the weapons used in the attack.
The prosecution will seek the death sentence for murder.
….
Police sources say the sixth accused in the Delhi gang-rape case – a 17-year-old who has been held at a juvenile home since his arrest – was the one who called out to the victim and her friend on that fateful night on December 16.
He allegedly told them the bus could take them to their destination. And once they boarded the bus he made lewd remarks about the girl. A NDTV report quoted police sources as saying the teenager allegedly raped her twice, once while she was unconscious….
