First the Deity is bathed with water collected from the Temple Tank/well or from the River in the city and the water is poured from head towards the feet with water cascading from the right palm of the priest while his left hand pours water from a small vessel meant only for this.
(On special occasions water is poured from a Sieve containing 1000 pores.
This is called the Sahasra Tharai.)
Then Gingelly oil is applied.
Water is poured.
Then the Idol is wiped with a new cloth.
Then Abhishekam with Tender coconut water,Milk,Curds,Sandalwood paste,Honey follows.
Finally the idol is bathed with water again.
During the entire process Veda Mantras, Sri Rudram and Chamakam,Purusha Suktham, Narayana Suktha, Vishnu Suktham, Sri Suktham and Durga Suktham are recited.
This is the real Panchamrutha Snana and not the Abhisheka with Panchamrutham which ifs offered as a Naivedya,
Then the Deity is dressed up with clothes, flowers and ornaments that befits the Deity and the Day/Date.
Then Mantra Pushpa is recited ending with Sanyasa Yoga Slokas.
The screen for viewing remains open while bathing is done, closed when being dressed up to be opened again.
Then Upachaaras or Obeisance ,64/16 follows.
Archana is performed and Arthi completes the Ritual.
Only then the Vedic Mantras, Tamil tets are recited.
Een the sankaracharyas are not allowed to perform Abhishekas in the Temples, nor take the Vibhuti from the Plate direct!
Now let us look at an exposition of constructing a Linga Swarupa of Lord Shiva.

All the Pooja Dravyas must be sanctified with Panchagavya, The three direct constituents are the cow dung, urine, and milk; the two derived products are curd and ghee”
Those who perform the Pooja must be wearing Upaveeda,Pavithra, Gold Rings,Kangan and Uthreeya(Cloth wrapped around the chest in a specific manner)
The Pandal,Shamiana must be of wooden stalks,
Pushpa Parigraham must be done with Narasimha Mantra, before doing Pooja.
Homa Kunda is to be established in the Northwest corner.
Brahma , Vishnuand Ashtadikpalakas must be established before the Sanctification ceremony.
The Vedas do not discuss about venerating the icons; though the icons (prathima or prathika) were known to be in use. Their preoccupation was more with the nature, abstract divinities and not with their physical representations. The Vedas did however employ a number of symbols, such as the wheel, umbrella, spear, noose, foot-prints, lotus, goad and vehicles etc. These symbols, in the later ages, became a part of the vocabulary of the iconography.

This post is a sequel to Hinduism,Mathematics Calculations and Measurements.
One who reads the IndianPuranas and Ithihasas like Ramayana would find that if a Rishi wants to curse or Bless some one’he/she sprinkles water thrice, taken from His /her Kamandalu, which is made of Copper.(Kamandalu is shaped like a small Teapot, without the Nose/snout)
In The Vedas, one of the most powerful Mantras being recited after the Pooja is performed is The Mantra Pushpa.
It is the worship of Water.
Water,Aapah,is extolled and prayed for Welfare.
Battery,Cell
Water is used for all ceremonies,Functions.
Water is used for Purification ceremonies, like marriages, and cleansing the Home after a Death.
Temples in India are closed only between 1 and 4 pm and finally at 1030 pm.
The closing time after Noon is called the Closure after Uchchi Kala Pooja and the closure after 1030 pm is Closure afterArtha JamaPooja.
A temple is never closed at other times.
( Also a Temple is not sanctioned to be open after Artha Jama Pooja, after 1030 pm; we now have even Tirupathi Temple being kept open through out the Day during English New Year Day and other important Days,This is wrong ,according to the Sastras)
However the Temples are closed if death occurs in the Street where The Temple is located and it is opened after the body is taken out.
To cleanse the temple Punyahachana is performed with Water.
Temples are closed during the Eclipses,Grahans and they are opened after the Eclipse is over and a Punyahavaachana is performed with Water before opening.
The Sandhyaandana, which is a Daily Duty of the three Varnas, Brahmins ,Kshtriyas, Vaisyas is performed with Water ans the purification of Food is done with Water,Parishachanam.
Why?
I searched and found references about Electricity from the Agasthya Samhita.
Here it is.
Formula for Electric battery in Agastya Samhita an Ancient Hindu text by The ancient text of Agastya Samhita describes the method of making electric battery, and that water can be split into oxygen and hydrogen. Modern battery cell resembles Agastya’s method of generating electricity. For generating electricity, Sage Agastya had used the following material: 1.One earthen pot 2.Copper plate 3.Copper sulphate 4.Wet saw dust 5.Zinc amalgam His text says : “Sansthapya Mrinmaya Patre Tamrapatram Susanskritam Chhadyechhikhigriven Chardrarbhih Kashthpamsubhih. Which means, “Place a well-cleaned copper plate in an earthenware vessel. Cover it first by copper sulfate and then by moist sawdust. After that, put a mercury-amalgamated zinc sheet on top of the sawdust to avoid polarization. The contact will produce an energy known by the twin name of Mitra-Varuna. Water will be split by this current into Pranavayu and Udanavayu. A chain of one hundred jars is said to give a very effective force. (p. 422)” When a cell was prepared according to Agastya Samhita and measured, it gives open circuit voltage as 1.138 volts, and short circuit current as 23 mA. Anen Jalbhangosti Prano Daneshu Vayushu Evam Shatanam Kumbhanamsanyogkaryakritsmritah. if we use the power of 100 earthen pots on water, then water will change its form into life-giving oxygen and floating hydrogen. Vayubandhakvastren Nibaddho Yanmastake Udanah Swalaghutve Bibhartyakashayanakam. If hydrogen is contained in an air tight cloth, it can be used in aerodynamics, i.e. it will fly in air. (Today’s Hydrogen Balloon) Process Of Electroplating by Maharshi Agastya in Agastya Sanhita: Excerpt from “Technology of the Gods: The Incredible Sciences of the Ancients” – By David Hatcher Childress “In the temple of Trivandrum, Travancore, the Reverned S. Mateer of the London Protestant Mission saw ‘a great lamp which was lit over one hundred and twenty years ago’, in a deep well in side the temple. ……. On the background of the Agastya Samhita text’s giving precise directions for constructing electrical batteries, this speculation is not extravagant.”

Whether Tamil is more ancient than Sanskrit,Caste is foisted on the people by the Brahmins, Babri Masjid was not built-in Ram’s Birth place, Taj Mahal was not built by Shah Jahan,Aurangzeb is a pious Man and the list is endless in India.
One such controversy is that the Balaji Temple was originally Lord Murga’s Temple and it was later converted into a Vishnu Temple.
1.Most common proof is the fact that the ancient Grammar of Tamils, right from Tholkappiyam while defining the characteristics of land masses, assigns Hilly terrains as the Abode of Lord Muruga.(Thinai Illakkanam).
Land Masses were divided into five categories by the Tamils.
Kurinji-Hilly Terrains,-Deity Lord Muruga
Mullai-Forest-Lord Vishnu.
Marutham- Agricultural Land-Indra
Neydal-Coastal Regions-Lord Varuna.
Palai-Desert-Kotravai(Durga)
I do not find any reason either from the Purnas or Tamil Literature to support the view that it was Muruga’s Temple.
The term Vengadam means the northern boundary.(of Tamils)
And there is no evidence of any King having built a Muruga Temple.
‘Puranas
The Purana Accounts are legendary and is not helpful in finding the probable date of the temple. Puranas concentrate how Vishnu came voluntarily to take his place there. Varaha temple at the foothills of Tirupati predates venkateshwara temple at the top. The only account relavant here is Tondaman (pallava) started the worship of vishnu here. This Thondaman assisted his brother(Akasa Raja) in administration. Thondaiman had a foster daughter in Tirupati and she was married to venkatesa. After the death of Akasa Raja (left a young prince), he and his nephew fought and tondiaman felt very weak ,so got the weapons from venkateswara . The war ended Indecisively and the country was divided into two. The one closer to Vengadam (Tirupati) was given to thondaman and the other farther away given to his nephew. Tondaiman built the temple and started the festivals. This Tondaman lived in Kaliyuga. There is a separate Thondaiman dynasty post 12th century AD. But Dravidian scholars want to identify Thondaiman as Pallava.’
However there is another argument that it has been a Shiva Temple because , even to-day Vilvarchana is being done to Lord Balaji.
Kanchi Periyavar states that in the Temple Prahara(outside wall, there are images of Lions, which are associated with only Goddess Durga and the temple could have been a Durga Temple.
There is another confusing statement from Romila Thapar.
