Facebook ,despite its much touted growth is set lose ground in vital markets,US, Indonesia,UK,France,
Main reason is people are getting bored with the trivia they are sharing and being shared with in Facebook.
Though interesting and tantalizing at first , the superficial relationship one establishes ,loses its sheen over a period of time as face to face relationship can never be substituted.
Facebook, the online social grid, could not command loyalty forever. If you ask around, as I did, you’ll find quitters. One person shut down her account because she disliked how nosy it made her. Another thought the scene had turned desperate. A third feared stalkers. A fourth believed his privacy was compromised. A fifth disappeared without a word.
The disillusionment with Facebook has come in waves. An early faction lost faith in 2008, when Facebook’s beloved Scrabble application, Scrabulous, was pulled amid copyright issues. It was suddenly clear that Facebook was not just a social club but also an expanding force on the Web, beholden to corporate interests. A later group, Harmsen’s crowd, grew frustrated last winter when Facebook seemed to claim perpetual ownership of users’ contributions to the site. (Facebook later adjusted its membership contract, but it continues to integrate advertising, intellectual property and social life.) A third wave of dissenters appears to be bored with it, obscurely sore or just somehow creeped out.
The first reaction among many educators is that Google+ could work well. As a post on the Apps User Group points out, there is a lot of potential with Google+: better student collaboration through Circles, opportunities for blended learning (a combination of offline and online instruction) with Hangouts, project research with Sparks, and easier school public relations with targeted photo-sharing, updates, and messaging.
Privacy: As Google’s own description of the new social feature highlights, it may well be the granular level of privacy afforded by Google+ that is the key to making this a successful tool for schools. Although some educators do use Facebook or Twitter in the classroom, neither of these are ideal in a school setting. Privacy concerns continue to plague Facebook and Facebook users, and although the addition of Facebook Groups late last year did make it easier for educators to have “private” conversations with smaller groups, many schools and teachers have still been reluctant to “friend” students or use the social networking site for educational purposes. And while Twitter has been embraced by many educators – for both professional development and forback-channeling in the classroom – there’s still that “always public” element of Twitter that makes many nervous.
Amazon claims students can save as much as 80% off textbook list prices by renting from the Kindle Store. The company is offering tens of thousands of textbooks, which students can rent for periods ranging from 30 to 360 days. Amazon has also extended its Whispersnyc technology so that students can access all their notes and highlighted content in the Amazon Cloud, even after the rental agreement is over.
In India, prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing and people are apathetic and political parties, especially the Opposition makes routine noises for they too do the same when they come to Power.
Take the instance of price hike of Kerosene,Diesel,Petrol and LPG(Cooking Gas).
The prices are no longer easily affordable for even an upper middle-income group.
The Government forgets that price rise of essential items such as the above will increase prices of all commodities further.
In the case LPG,people shall gravitate towards electric cooking appliances like Oven,Induction Stove, which will increase demand for electricity of which India is notoriously short.
Tax element in the prices of these products by the Central Government is very high.
What is the point in taxing more and use the money thus collected elsewhere?
When Essentials are not met, what is the point in talking about products for which the Government allocates money as project finance?
Customers must bring the demand down to ensure reasonable pricing as has been done in the case under discussion.
Why not use Social Media to pressurize the Government?
Israel’s relatively small size and its tech-savvy and media-aware population enabled the protest to spread quickly. More than 105,000 people joined the Facebook group vowing to boycott cottage cheese until prices dropped. The campaign touched a nerve among Israelis concerned about rising prices and eroding salaries.
Spooked by the outrage, the three main Israeli dairy companies that control the market agreed to lower the price of a half-pound (250 gram) container to 5.90 shekels ($1.75) after it had risen to close to 8 shekels ($2.30).
The hacker who succeeded in hacking AT&T’s iphones and Sony Play station3 has been hired by Facebook.
Hire a Thief to catch a Thief?
‘ A 17-year-old New Jersey student has unlocked Apple’s previously AT&T-exclusive iPhone, the AP reports, potentially opening the floodgates for users who want to use the vaunted handset with other carriers. Teen hacker George Hotz used a complex combination of software alterations—and hardware soldering—to let his phone onto T-Mobile‘s network.’
