Savitri forms an essential part of the Gayatri Mantra, which is also on the Sun God, described as an Impersonal one. Surya is described as the Witness,Sakshi of the Universe. He is the force behind all actions. Surya is the power behind Hunger. Hunger is because food being burned to create Calories. By controlling this fire Hunger may be conquered. The Mantras are indicated in this Upanishad. The Mantra is clubbed with Atibala Mantra and together they are called Bala and Atibala Mantra. This Mantra was imparted by Sage Viswamitra to Lord Ram and Lakshman to overcome Hunger and Thirst.(Bala Kanda, Valmiki Ramayana) Savitri Upanishad

Many relationships turn sour because of some words uttered in a moment of uncontrolled emotions and this at times leads to serious consequences. Some may result in the Couple being estranged. This is because the Savitri in the tongue releases word from the Mind unchecked as words, Sarsvathi. This has many reasons. I touched upon this in a Post on Savitri. After the words are out, one follows another and estrangement might result. Though both the parties want to unite some thing blocks them. Today they call it Ego. There is a debate on the difference between the Gayatri and Savitri Mantras. The Gayathri, the Supreme Mantra of the Vedas is to be intoned, not to be learnt by writing.
