Making Democracy work in Pakistan is an impossible dream. Two wars are waged in Pakistan on the civilian front;one between Zardari and Nawaz Sharief, both tainted;another between Civilian establishment and military led by Kayani, surreptitiously backed by Musharaff.
Who will win? -no one knows.
Another war is one we know;the one perpetrated by ISI, terrorists, who are waiting in the wings to gobble up Pakistan.Under the circumstances, Pakistan qualifies the definition of a failed state and deserves to be treated as such and any negotiations you have with them will be of no relevance as there is no central authority.

Democracy in Pakistan?

Zardari and Karzai.
There is a vital difference between Karzai and Zardari.Karzai may be incompetent and is facing tough clan resistance, Zardari is an unwilling ,incompetent and leader(?) foisted on the people of Pakistan by skullduggery. He can not afford to go after militants as he is not sure of Army and Nawaz Sharief and their possible positions.Under the circumstances , aid to Pakistan will only be a charity- worse still breed more militancy.
As for as Karzai is concerned he needs money as well as hard ware to meet the threat.
But Pakistan needs both to fuel militancy as the political and army equations compel those in power over there to be what they are. -
North Korea, Pakistan and Israel-Next?
1.Obama’s line is long overdue from US.This will build Palestinian confidence and also send a warning to Israel that their sufferings in the annals of History does not confer on them the Right to make others suffer for no fault of their own.A good beginning for a solution to middle east.
2.Gameplan of Nkorea is world attention and aid for economic prosperity, hence the sabre rattling.Unfortunately China and Russia are on its side. However repugnant it might be, better to engage in talks and provide assistance to Nkorea to ward off greater threat.
3.Distinction between , Taliban and other terrorists has no meaning..Terrorism is terrorism is ,notwithstanding labels. All forms of terrorism are to be ruthlessly wiped out.But ,of course ,Pakistan?!!!!Pakistan is not only a failed state but a failed society as well.
4.Kelly’s definition is correct. The counter argument based on coercion forgets the point coercion was adopted because there was no voluntary participation.Goal remains the same.In Kelly’s case it is more human face of Communism.Names do not matter nor semantics, but what is real and good. -
Good Terrorist!?
Just as there is not a good terrorist and a bad terrorist, so is Taliban.Engage in talks with them; it shall give them time to regroup, as has been proved in the case of LTTE.There is no parallel in History( except IRA, where the issue was different) when terrorism has been brought to heel by negotiations.Insurgency is a wrong word to use for Taliban. They are terrorists, amoral and anti social.Let us not repeat the mistake of Chamberlain with Hitler.Solution is -crush them militarily-definitely it is a tall order, but this is the only solution.Look at LTTE.

Iran-G20 Show over, move over to real Politicking.
‘Considering’ and ‘Securing’ assurances from China and Russia on taking action against Iran may sound grandiose, but will it really fructify? The ‘inevitability’ of sanctions-as made out by Russia-may drive Iran into a corner.Amidst this bonhomie people seem to have forgotten N.Korea and Pakistan on Nuclear issue. The promises made by China and Russia that they will take tougher action-it is not something new,as Security Council members, they ought to do it anyway-holds good so long as it affects them, especially with reference to China.
Well, the Talk Shop is over, all of you made statesemanesque like statements, now go back to real Politicking.
