  • Sakam Gayatri Mantras For Desires

    We have the Mother of all Mantras, The Gayatri.

    We also have the Sakam Gayatri,.

     

    While the regular Gayatri is meant for Self realization as the primary goal, our Rishis were aware, that though the regular Gayatri Mantra shall deliver

     

     

    other benefits  as a side spin-off, ordinary Mortals require  specific desires to be fulfilled and they need a special Mantra for a specific  desire in Mind.

     

    These Gaytris are to be addressed to 24 Deities.

     

    These Gayatris also contain the twenty-four Aksharas when intoned correctly as in regular Gayatri.

    1. Ganesh Gayatri: The repetition of this mantra is done for the destruction of obstacles and to succeed in difficult tasks.

    Samput : Samput are some specific words used in the mantra. These can be used at the start, middle or end of the mantra. The samput has great shakti and should be used carefully.
    Gayatri Mantra “Om bhur bhava suha tatsa vetur vareneyam bargo devasyaha dhimi diyo yona parachodayat.” Few words can be added after Om bhur bhava swaha as samput to fulfill various desires. Some samput with their purposes are given below.

    1. Om aeeng kaleeng soo – for proficiency in words.
    2. Om shareeng hareeng shareeng – for wealth and comforts.
    3. Om aeeng hareeng kaleeng – enemies are destroyed, troubles vanish and the individual is blessed with joy and happiness.
    4. Om shareeng hareeng kaleeng – Blessed with progeny.
    5. Om hareeng – Recovery from diseases.
    6. Om aeeng hareeng kaleeng – Protection from all evil forces. Hopes and wishes are realised.

  • Some Intricate Details Of Gayatri Mantra Japa

     

    Gayatri Mantra is the Highest mantra of Hinduism.

     

    Gayatri is a meter and has to be intoned.

     

    It has to be in Five Padas, Five Groupings.

     

    Gayatri is the Mother of all Meters,, Gayatrrem Chandasaam Maata,

     

    Gaytri Maatha
    Devi Gayatri

     

    May we meditate on the Glory of the Lord, the Remover of pains and sorrows, the Bestower of happiness, Who has created the universe, and Who is the embodiment of knowledge and light. May the Lord, enlighten our intellect in the right direction by destroying all our sins and ignorance.

    Meaning of each letter in mantra:

    OM = Almighty God
    BHOOR = Embodiment of vital or spiritual energy
    BHUVAHA = Destroyer of suffering
    SWAHA = Embodiment of happiness
    TAT = That (indicating God)
    SAVITUR = Bright, luminous, like and sun
    VARENIYAM = Supreme, best
    BARGO = Destroyer of sins
    DEVASYA = Divine
    DHEEMAHI = May receive
    DHIYO = Intellect
    YO = Who
    NAHA = Our
    PRACHODAYAT = May inspire.

    “May we meditate on the Glory of the Lord, the Remover of pains and sorrows, the Bestower of happiness, Who has created the universe, and Who is the embodiment of knowledge and light. May the Lord, enlighten our intellect in the right direction by destroying all our sins and ignorance.”

    This can be translated: Aum. Let us contemplate the spirit of the divine of the earth, the atmosphere and heaven. May that inspire our minds. Savitri is the Sun and this mantra is recited at the three junctions or twilight of the day. Here is described how the mantra Aum hums in the base or Muladhara chakra, and moves through seven stages to the chakra above the head Sahasrara.

     

    Maha Vishnu describes Aum as consisting of the following. Bhur is existence, Bhuvah is the elements, Svah is the Atma of everything, Maha is greatness and light, Tat is Brahman (the absolute). Tapah is all knowledge, Satyam is supremacy and internal wisdom. This tantra connects the three letters of Aum to the seven worlds.

     

    Tat, refers to the first cause of all substance, as fire in the circle of the sun and is supreme Brahman. Savituhu is the source of all living beings. Varenyam is the excellent one who receives adoration.

     

    Bharga destroys sin. Devasya means it is full of light, while Dheemahi refers to knowledge being golden and always within the sun. Dhiyo means Buddhi. Yo stands for energy (tejas).

     

    The mantra is divided into three sections of eight letters and four sections of six letters.

     

    A dhyana (meditation) – Gayatri as having four faces, which are white, yellow, red and black.

     

    Yet the tantrik tradition has different views of the Gayatri. For example, in the Matrikabhedatantra, there is a couplet, which says a person who knows the Brahman (the absolute) is a Brahmin.

     

    Gayatri is mother of Vedas. Sadhana of Gayatri mantra is the essence of all Vedas. Even God like Brahma mediates on and performs Jap of Gayatri at the time of twilight.

     

    Gayatri Jap performed daily for three years realizes God and like air, acquires the power of going where the person wants to go.

     

    Merely by offering water to the Sun and performing Jap of three thousand Gayatri mantra at the time of twilight, a person becomes adorable by God.

    In Bhavanopanishad, one witness within oneself the effulgent figure of Divine Mother with the different phases of the waxing and waning Moon.

    The Devi is to be meditated upon as of a ruddy complexion, with eyes expansive, as an ocean overflowing with waves of grace, with noose, goad, arrows of flowers and a twig of sugar- cane in her hand, surrounded by Anima and other deities and ultimately as one´s own self.

    1. Complete faith unflinching loyalty backed by a clear heart towards the deity is required for Sadhana.

    2. Do not start Mantra Shakti under any pressure. Trust in God, kindness and patience should be the virtues of a Sadhaka.

    3. Avoid harsh speech, lust, anger, restless thoughts, evil company and egoism.

    Do not get emotional.

    Mantras on hearsay should be avoided, as they must be authentic.

    4. Sadhana done without any specific aim bears fruits early.

    In case you see any miracle, do not fear. Keep your WILL POWER strong and continue your Sadhana.

    All troubles will vanish.

    5. Brahmacharya or celibacy should be observed during Sadhana. In case of failure, do not lose heart. Try it again and again and you will be crowned with success.”

  • Three Levels Of Speech Gayathri Savitri Sarasvati

     

    There is a debate on the difference between the Gayatri and Savitri Mantras.

     

    The Gayatri, the Supreme Mantra of the Vedas is to be intoned, not to be learnt by writing.

     

    “Gayathethi Gayathri, Gayathri is ‘That which is intoned.

     

    “Among the Mantras I am The Gayatri’ Bhagavad Gita.

     

    There is no hymn superior than Gayatri Mantra, ‘na gaayatriyaah paramam japam’ .

     

    Now in the Gayatri Mantra we have the mention of Gayatri,Savitri and Sarasvati.

     

    “In invoking Gayatri and praying to be present, we say,

     

    Gayathrrem Aavaahayami,

     

    Savitreem Aavahayaami,

     

    Sarasvatheem Aavahayaami’

    There are three levels of Speech.

     

    First when we think.

     

    If one analyses , when one thinks, he/she would find an echo in the mind, some times quite loud, this is especially so in the case of those who perform Japa, and Devi Upasana.

     

    This applies to our day-to-day thoughts as well.

     

    The implication is that the Universal Sabda, Sound, is being brought forth into individual level and the

    One who makes it possible is Gayatri.

     

    This is level One.

     

    The next is as soon as the thoughts are formed,it sits as it were, in the spot just beneath the tongue.

     

    The words are not formed at the physical level and they lie dormant.

     

    We have heard and we also know at times on seeing or while coming into contact with something which we think is new, we say,

     

    ‘I Know,it is at the tip of my tongue, it will come’

     

    This is the place of Savitri” the unformed words, with the potential to become words.

     

    This the level where the Speech Impaired people’s impediment lies.

     

    Savitri does not synchronize with Sarasvati.

     

    The third and final level is that of Sarasvati.

     

    This is where the thoughts get transformed into words.

     

    Sarasvati ,in synchronization with Gayatri through Savitri expresses in the form of words.

     

    ‘Srimad Vaakbhavakooda Swarooopini’ the confluence Words and its Happening.Lalitha Sahasranaama.

     

    These are the three levels of Speech.

     

    One should always remember the Gayatri is  a Chandas,Meters primarily and there are many Mantras in this

    Meter.

     

    Chandas.

     

    Gayathri Mantra is both Mantra and Chandas.

     

    This Mantra has other significance in terms of Mantra and Tantra Shastra and I hope to write on it.

     

    Related information.

     

    Each of three is called sthula (material) form. Three separate forms are grouped as Vyasti. There is also a combined form and that is called Samasti.

    (Vishvamitra is the Seer for Gayatri hymn. He is the same Sage to impart ‘bala atibala’ hymns to Lord Rama and Lakshmana.This ‘bala atibala’ mantra is also called as Savitri Mantra and this is available in Savitri Upanishad, Verse 4.This hymn is yet another aspect of Gayatri,)

    Gayatri Forms:

    1) Morning Gayatri Dhyanam:

    ‘balarkaruna shona patala mukaih yuktam kumarim giram
    Pratarlokita vigraham bhuvigatam saukatmikam rajaseem
    vibhranamabhayam kamandalumathambhojaksha malam sruvam
    kayatrim hrudi hamsanam bhavakarim sri brahmarupam bhaje’

    Morning time Gayatri dwells in Surya mandalam. She is having red colour. She is young and having rajoguna. Her vahana is swan and having Brahma amsam. She represents Rig Veda. She is having (in Three hands) kamandalu, lotus and japamala. The fourth hand shows abhaya mudra. She is called Gayatri. (She has four heads).

    Alternate Dhyanam:

    ‘pratar dhyayami gayatrim, ravimandala-madhyagam
    rg-vedam uccarayantim raktavarnam kumarikam
    akshamalakaram brahmadevatyam hamsavahanam’

    2) Noon Savitri Dhyanam:

    ‘mukta pandura hemadhusara sitasyam trishanam vyomagam
    madhyanhe sitavikraham suyuvatim satyatmikam tamaseem
    khatvankgapaya sulakani dadhateem rudraksha malaamumam
    savitrim vrushavahanam kshapakarim sri rudrarupam bhaje’

    Midday she dwells in Surya mandalam having white colour and tamoguna. She is having (in three hands) Trident. Cot-leg, rudraksha mala and the fourth hand is in abhaya mudra. She is a middle aged and her vahana is bull. Also she is having three eyes (on all the Five heads).She represents Yajur Veda and takes the Rudra rupini (Rudra amsam). She is called as Savitri in noon.

    Alternate Dhyanam:

    ‘madhyandine tu savitrim ravimandalamadhyagam
    yajur-vedam vyaharantim svetam sulakaram sivam
    yuvatim rudradevatyam dhyayami vrshavahanam’

    3) Evening Saraswati Dhyanam:

    ‘nilendevara mesakaika vadanam vrudhdasvarupam ramam
    sayam shyamala vigraham dwigataam gnanatmikamsatvikim
    sankam chakramathabhayancha tulasi malam karair bhiratim
    tarkshyathmja saraswathim sthitikarim sri Vishnu rupaam bhaje’

    Evening she is called Saraswati and dwells in Surya Mandalam. She has black colour and old aged. Her vahana is Garuda. She is having (in three hands) chakra, conch and Tulsi mala and the fourth hand is in abhaya mudra. Sha has gnana swarupam and is having satvaguna. She represents Sama Veda. She takes Vishnu amsam. (She has single head only)

    Alternate Dhyanam:

    ‘sayam sarasvatim syamam ravimandalamdhyagam
    sama-vedam vyaharantim cakrayudhadharam subham
    dhyayami vishnudevatyam vrddham garudavahanam’

    4) Samasti Rupa Gayatri Dhyanam:

    The following Dhyana sloka is recited in all the three times by many.

    ‘Muktavidruma hema nila dhavala chhayirmukhayir streekshanayir
    yuktamindu nibaddha ratna makutam tatvartha varnatmikam
    Gayatrrem varadabhayam kuskasassubhramka palam gadam
    sankham chakra dharavinda ugalam hastyirvahanteem bhaje’

    Meditate on the Goddess Gaaytri with five heads, sitting in a pond on a red lotus flower. She wears a red sari and is beautiful. Her heads are pearl, coral, gold, blue, and white in color. Gaayatrii has three eyes and wears the cresant moon upon Her head. She has ten arms. She makes the mudra dispelling fear (abhaya mudra), and the mudra granting gifts (varada mudra), She holds a mace, a chakra, a conch, an ankusam, pasam, kapalam and two lotuses .

    Devi Gayatri’s five faces are white like pearl; one is red like coral, second is yellow like gold, third is blue like neelam, fourth white like milk, and the fifth is of ‘trinetra’ or three eyed. We meditate Her gem studded headgear with half- moon like jewel on Her Head,

  • How Many Letters In Gayatri Mantra Shankaracharaya

    I have delivered a Lecture in Chennai on Vedic Hinduism,Quantum Theory and Gayatri Mantra and its

     

    relevance in unlocking the Secrets of the Universe, on the occasion of the release

     

     

    of the Book ‘Downloading Nature’s Secret from Akasa to The Quantum Vacuum Field’.

    After the Lecture a young man approached me and asked that the number of letters in Gayatri Mantra add only to 28 and why do people say it has 24 letters?

     

    People , including me have been saying The Gayatri Mantra has only twenty-four letters.

     

    I asked him to search for it and he will find the answer by himself within twenty-four hours and if he does not

     

    find it I shall let him know.

    My belief is that in Hinduism, the Sadahka has to find the things by himself and must resort to learning from

     

     

    others as a shortcut as a last resort.

     

    And something inside me told me that he would find it by himself.

     

    He agreed to do so.

    In the composition of the Richas (couplets) of Veda s, meanings are subordinate to the syntax of words,’

     

    Gayatri essentially being a Chhandas ,Musical Notations are given importance over Meaning or Grammar.

     

    The chhandas (components of Veda  (classified according to number of letters) in the Veda s are composed

     

    to retain symphony as grasped by the Rishis to guide people in Realizing The Self.

     

     

    Those who recite in a Chhandas change the pitch while Intoning.

     

    The  difference between the “written” and pronounced “Nyam‘ in the Mantra lies in its sonic effect.

     

    The Vedas are Sabda Pramana, Sound as an Instrument of Knowledge

     

    ‘Nyam’ as a composite of ‘Ni’ and ‘Yam’ according to their musical notation, the first

     

     

    second and third segments of the Mantra add up to 8 words each.

     

    Adi Shankaracharya endorses this .

     

    The Pingal Shastra and Mantrartha Chandrodaya supporrtthis satnd on Gayatri.

    In this way, the letters in the Mantra are to be counted as follows:

    The Shruthi is the Revelation  are not governed by Grammatical rules as they are grasped by The Rishis

    intuitively and Vedas are learnt only the word of mouth,by intonations and not through written form.

     

    Being timeless and Eternal The Vedas precede Grammar and hence this issue.

    Yajur Vedi Upakarma Avani Avittam 2017.

    The Yajur Upakarma is to be celebrated on 6th September 2017,as the earlier day happens to be day when Grahana,Eclipse takes place.

    Rig Upakarma August 28th,(Aadi12th),

    Sama Upakarma,August 25th( Avani 9th),

    This decision has been announced by Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt.

    Gayatri Japa falls on the next day.

    Gayatri Mantra is the most celebrated Mantra of the Hindus.

    This Mantra precedes all Mantras for the three Varnas,Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaisyas

    Smritis declare ,

    ‘There is nothing for a Man in this world who neglects his parents

    There is nothing for a Man here and beyond who neglects Gayatri Mantra”

    It is ordained that for one who neglects parents nothing auspicious will accrue and no Mantra,Japa,Yagas, Yagnyas will yield results for one who does not recite Gayatri Mantra.

    Gayatri is the Mother of all the Mantras.

    The Gayatri Mantra was revealed to sage Viswamitra and he is the Rishi for the Gayatri mantra.

    The Gayatri Mantra has 24 Letters.

    The Significance of these 24 letters are provided below.

    1. ‘tat’ – tapini – fruitfulness
    2 ‘sa’ – saphaltaa – valor
    3 ‘vi’ – vishwa – perseverance
    4 ‘tur’ – tushti – welfare
    5 ‘va’ – varad – yoga
    6 ‘re’ – revatee – love
    7 ‘ni’ – sookshm – wealth
    8 ‘yam’ – gyaan – luster
    9 ‘bhar’ – bharga – protection
    10 ‘go’ – gomatee – wisdom
    11 ‘de’ – devikaa – subjugation

    What one can visibly see is a Glow in the face, mental tranquility and mental toughness to tide over difficulties if one were to recite the Mantra in the way it has to be, that is in Five Padas, the total mantra is to be recited in five groups.

    The Gayatri mantra is composed of a metre consisting of 24 syllables – generally arranged in a triplet of eight syllables each. Therefore, this particular meter (tripadhi) is also known as the Gayatri Meter or “Gayatri Chhanda.”

    The Meaning

    “O thou existence Absolute, Creator of the three dimensions, we contemplate upon thy divine light. May He stimulate our intellect and bestow upon us true knowledge.”

    Or simply,

    “O Divine mother, our hearts are filled with darkness. Please make this darkness distant from us and promote illumination within us.”

    Let us take each word of the Gayatri Mantra and try to understand its inherent meaning.

    Gayatri Mantra Meaning.
    The Gayatri Mantra.
    Silently thinking or speaking or chanting the Gayatri Mantra influences the physical body, clears the emotional body, leading one to the inner heart1. The Gayatri stimulates and facilitates insightfulness and awakening to the Truth within all. Our energy centers, levels and rhythms are activated by the measure of breaths that are drawn in through the nostrils and released during recitation of the Gayatri Mantra (even during silent repetition)2. This balances electromagnetic rhythm and energy currents in the body with prana. Prana is an undetectable life force energy which is similar to orgone3.
    During recitation, all elements of the mantra are in use; even the breath is a precision instrument. It all works together, like an orchestra and the conductor. The breath, voice, meditation and intention, efficiently and effortlessly function (like the sun efficiently and effortlessly shines).

    The First Word Om (Aum)

    It is also called Pranav because its sound emanates from the Prana (vital vibration), which feels the Universe. The scripture says “Aum Iti Ek Akshara Brahman” (Aum that one syllable is Brahman).

    When you pronounce AUM:
    A – emerges from the throat, originating in the region of the navel
    U – rolls over the tongue
    M – ends on the lips
    A – waking, U – dreaming, M – sleeping
    It is the sum and substance of all the words that can emanate from the human throat. It is the primordial fundamental sound symbolic of the Universal Absolute.

    The “Vyahrities”: Bhuh, Bhuvah & Svah

    The above three words of the Gayatri, which literally means “past,” “present,” and “future,” are called Vyahrities. Vyahriti is that which gives knowledge of entire cosmos or “ahriti”. The scripture says: “Visheshenh Aahritih sarva viraat, praahlaanam prakashokaranh vyahritih”. Thus, by uttering these three words, the chanter contemplates the Glory of God that illumines the three worlds or the regions of experience.

    The Remaining Words

    • Tat simply means “that” because it defies description through speech or language, the “Ultimate Reality.”
    • Savitur means “Divine Sun” (the ultimate light of wisdom) not to be confused with the ordinary sun.
    • Varenium means “adore”
    • Bhargo means “illumination”
    • Devasya means “Divine Grace
    • Dheemahi means “we contemplate”
    • Dhi means intellect
    • Yo means “who”
    • Nah means “ours”
    • Prachodayat means “requesting / urging / praying”

    The last five words constitute the prayer for final liberation through the awakening of our true intelligence.
