In reply to a comment by goks to my blog on CAG Repor “Please wait.
The Government will come with a story on excessive availability of Coal and hence there were no demand.
So they wanted to create demand!t on Coalgate I replied ‘
Now Congress is trying to come out with a statement
“The Supreme Court, while cancelling the 2G licences, did not make any observation with regard to the presumptive loss. If the apex court would have been convinced of averments of CAG, they would have endorsed the presumptive loss”, he said.
“CAG will be well served by keeping this precedent in mind and not keep adding zeros, which unnecessarily sensationalize and vitiates the environment”, he said.”
I saw in a TV report(was it TimesNow?) that the power price might have gone up if the tender process was followed!
In the spirit of helping Congress, I would like to reply on their behalf.
The CAG Report should have been approved by the Supreme Court before being tabled in the Parliament,
By not doing so , the CAG is undermining the Legislature and the People of India.
Coal until it is sold and Cash is realized is a worthless stone,
How come the CAG put a value on the Loss?
If the Coal Blocks were tendered and allocated as suggested by the CAG, Power prices would have gone up.
Being the critical factor in Economy, the increase in Power Price would have triggered Inflation further and would have led to further poor rating by International Credit Rating Agencies.
It was anticipated that the Monsoon would fail in 2012 and tendering would have taken a lot of time.
Being short of Water,Power Generation would have been affected in Thermal Stations.
The companies who received the allocation have the necessary Infrastructure which the Government lacks.
If one were to go by History and Anthropology, it is clear Coal was not made available by tendering Process.
The Prime Minister was aware of the developments and had instructed the Ministry of Power and Ministry of Establishments to ensure that there is transparency in Public Life.
The Law Ministry sent a Circular to all the Class IV Employees that the Coal Block allocation is to be conducted.
It has become the habit of politicians on winning the Elections to declare that’people have decided’
Widow of YSR has already stated that Jagan Reddy is innocent and the cases were foisted.
Jagan Reddy
We know what happens in Elections.
Even assuming that the Elections are fair,it does not prove the innocence of the accused.
At times like these, one tends to agree to the view that people who are served charge sheets should not stand for elections.
I am aware that by this yardstick none of our current politicians can stand for Elections!
The only way out is for people to weed out the corrupt, though it sounds utopian now.
The alternative will be chaos.
“The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) bagged the Nellore Lok Sabha and 14 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, after results of the state bypolls were declared on Friday.
The counting of votes began at 8am on Friday amid tight security in the constituencies spread over 12 districts. About 70 per cent polling was recorded in Nellore and an average 80 per cent in the 18 assembly constituencies in the by-elections held on Tuesday.
The byelections were caused by the resignation of one member of parliament and disqualification of 17 legislators of the Congress party who had switched loyalties to the YSRCP.
Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy of the YSRCP retained Nellore Lok Sabha seat with a massive majority of more than 290,000 votes over his nearest rival and former central minister T Subbarami Reddy of the Congress party.
YSRCP formed by Jaganmohan Reddy, the son of late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy — popularly known as YSR, is also heading for victory in Tirupati assembly constituency.
The Tirupati assembly seat fell vacant after the election of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi to the Rajya Sabha.
The results mean YSRCP wrested 13 seats won by Congress in 2009 and one seat from Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), which has now merged with Congress. TRS snatched one seat from Congress.
The Congress drew solace from the fact that it escaped a total humiliation by retaining two seats. This will improve the ruling party’s slender majority in the 294-member house. With two seats its tally has now gone up to 154.
TRS managed to scrape through in Parkala, the only assembly seat which went to poll in the Telangana region. In a neck and neck battle, TRS candidate Bhikshapati defeated YSRCP’s Konda Surekha by over 800 seats. Surekha, who was trailing at fourth position till the 14th round of counting, gave a good fight to TRS.
YSRCP received a jolt with the defeat of its top leaders P Subhash Chandra Bose and Konda Surekha. Both were ministers in the YSR cabinet and had switched loyalties to YSRCP. Subhash Chandra Bose lost from Ramachandrapuram constituency in East Godavari district.
Despite denial from Karunanidhi, the DMK Chief there are strong indications that he may be considered for the post of the President of India.
During Karunanidhi’s birth day bash(which had the lowest turn out in the past ten-years), a Central Minister and leading lights of the DMK were reported to have met Karunanidhi and suggested that he be a candidate for the post of presidency and they had feelers from Sonia Gandhi to this effect. Karunanidhi seems to have replied that ‘he knew his height’
However , his son and former Dy.CM of Tamil Nadu, his son Mu.Ka.Stalin is reported to be trying to convince his father Karunanidhi to accept the offer.
Stalin has an ulterior motive .
By making Karunanidhi the president the DMK Char will become vacant and he feels he could occupy it.
Karunanidhi, having become a President would gain in statute and his word to the effect Stalin is to succeed will not invite vigorous opposition from even from Stalin’s bete noir ,his brother Mu.Ka.Azhagiri,Union Minister of Agriculture.
Now that A.Raja of 2G scam has reached Chennai(who is an avowed baiter of Stalin) and started canvassing against Stalin by writing an open letter to Karunanidhi stating that the DMK had no Leader after Karunanidhi, Stalin wants to push Karunanidhi up and sideline Raja as well.
Azhagiri has offered no comments.
Karunanidhi seems to be reconsidering his earlier decision not to consider the Presidency.
Congress has problems of different sorts.
It can not endorse PA.Sangma knowing his animosity towards Sonia Gandhi and his objection to Sonia becoming the Prime Minister earlier.
Pronab Mukherjee is being considered ony to ensure that he does not become candidate for the Prime minister’s post.
There have been reports that Pranab Mukherjee tried to cut a deal with the opposition during th parliament stalling period by the opposition.
By kicking him up Sonia wants to ensure that he does not harbour such thoughts again.
Pranab has is not exactly enthused about his becoming the president, wily cat that he is.

P.Chidambaram , though an efficient material, can not be considered as he is facing flak from the opposition.
Manmohan Singh prefers Montek Singh Ahuwalia and the Congress leaders are averse to this idea as he is a bureaucrat and not a politician.
Jairam Ramesh is girdling up but his abrasive style is against him.
Given the circumstances Sonia seems to prefer Karunanidhi.
But she is worried about his corrupt record and his party in various scams.
Now Stalin has gone to Delhi to meet Sonia on this subject. Normally these sort of communications are handled by TR Baalu or other minions,
Let’s see how this plays out.
”
As the Presidential poll schedule is expected in the next few days, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Thursday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and reportedly reiterated the party’s backing for the Congress nominee.
Accompanied by DMK parliamentary party leader T.R. Baalu, Mr. Stalin, who is also the son of DMK president M. Karunanidhi, conveyed the message of the latter that there was no second thought or confusion in supporting the Congress candidate for the post.
Mr. Baalu told The Hindu that Mr. Stalin originally came to meet the former Minister A. Raja, who was released from jail recently in the 2G spectrum case, and later paid courtesy calls on the three leaders.
Mr. Stalin’s meeting here with Congress leaders comes even as Mr. Karunanidhi had indicated in Chennai on Wednesday that he was not averse to the idea of supporting the candidature of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for the post of President. He was reacting to Dravidar Kazhagam leader K. Veeramani‘s stand that Mr. Kalam’s candidature should be supported. The DMK patriarch had said though it was Mr. Veeramani’s opinion, he would not like to contradict him.
Mr. Karunanidhi had further told reporters that the DMK had already explained its stand to Defence Minister A.K. Antony and informed the media about it to an extent.
Earlier on another occasion, Mr. Karunanidhi had reportedly said, while reacting to a question on whether he had any objection to Mr. Pranab Mukherjee becoming the President: “If he is the candidate, the DMK will not hesitate to support his candidature.”
BJP, despite its wish to think otherwise, has been very soft on 2 G scam, when compared to its vociferous soundbites on CWG and vote -for-money scam.
Earlier Advani declared that the DMK is being made a scapegoat in the 2G issue.
At best he could have said that Congress is more accountable in 2G scam than DMK.
Now Gadkari says,,with his legal acumen that Kanimozhi should be granted bail because the charge sheet has been framed.
He does not seem to have read the reasons cited by the Magistrate O.P.Saini that Kanimozhi is being denied bail on the ground that
-Kanimozhi is not being discriminated against her being a woman(Kanimozhi in her bail application has stated that she is a woman!) as she is an MP and she is influential.
-She holds political power and as such can tamper with the evidence) which is a correct observation considering the fact that her father Karunanidhi, who never found time to meet up with Sonia Gandhi on the State’s problems or on the issue of Tamils being killed in Sri Lanka, met up with Sonia Gandhi and revealed that he got her assurance in this case;predictably the CBI leaked out the information that it will not oppose Kanimozhi’s bail.
-She could tamper with the evidence,(One might recall that Sadiq Pasha was murdered -he was reportedly close to SUN group and was expected to spill the beans and the case has been closed as suicide!)
-Why the CBI wants to apply different yardsticks on bail applications for different people?
One can not, under the circumstances , as the BJP is expecting a break of ties between Congress and DMK , BJP is not getting the response as it should form Advani’s Rath Yatra,BJP does not have an agenda to fight the elections right now,and that too many squabbles with in the BJP, escape the conclusion that the BJP is cozying up with the DMK to bring into its fold to fight the election.
But the Corruption ties of the DMK and the Congress are too intricate and intertwined to allow either the Congress or the DMK to leave the other.
Replying to questions on Rajat Sharma‘s Aap Ki Adalat show, Gadkari said now that a chargesheet has been filed in the 2G scam, Kanimozhi surely deserved bail.
“I am not making a political point. But as far as my legal knowledge goes, once a chargesheet has been filed, the accused should have been granted bail.
“I can assure you even our party would not allege that the Congress connived to get Kanimozhi bail.”
The BJP president went on to allege that the Congress was targeting its alliance partners and political opponents by misusing the CBI.
“Except Suresh Kalmadi, not a single Congress leader has been indicted so far. Don’t you think Chidambaram is responsible for the 2G scam? The Congress is targeting its alliance partners like DMK, NCP and other political opponents.
“I have seen the Commonwealth Games files. There were signatures of the PM, Cabinet Secretary, Group of Ministers and pre-qualification norms were changed. Is Kalmadi alone responsible?
“Why was no action taken on V K Shunglu Committee report against Sheila Dikshit? Why was the Lokayukta report against the Delhi minister rejected?”, asked Gadkari.
Karunanidhi ,from the view of Party, can not afford to leave the congress fold ,considering that Jayalalithaa is in power in the Sate and she has already made her intentions of going after Karunanidhi clear, by appointing a Commission to inquire into the expenses of building a new Secretariat, reviving the Arasu Cable Net work, among other things.
Worse, the DMK is not even the leader of the Opposition, that goes to Vijayakanth.
Another Minister Dayanidhi Maran is likely to follow A.Raja to Tihar Jail.
More than anything else, Karunanidhi has to ensure he is not hounded out..
If he leaves now it will only confirm his guilt on 2G Scam.
Meanwhile his other house pressures are on to retaliate against Congress for arresting Kanimozhi.
;Congress does not seem to oblige, with Ghulam Nabi Azad declaring while Congress is sympathetic towards him,it is helpless in Court Orders on 2G Scam.
To arrive at a balance Karunanidhi is expected to announce the resignation of Ministers from the Cabinet and might offer issue based(?) support.
Congress,if it goes the DMK way it will be accused of sheltering the Corrupt(It is).
If it wants to jettison the DMK, it is difficult to make up 18 MPs,considering BSP/SP can not be relied upon as the UP Elections are approaching.
To depend on other groups is trickier.
Seizing the moment, AIADMK Chief is leaving for Delhi on 13 June to stitch up the Third Front.
She is alive to the fact the BJP is losing ground as reflected in the recent Elections, the Communists are nearly wiped out in the country, the Congress is on the back foot on 2G Scam,ISRO scam and other scams and that Sonia had a senior party leaders’ meet a couple of days ago after which the Congress leaders became strident in attacking Ramdev and Anna Hazare, that the Elections may be advanced.
Story:
An upset M Karunanidhi could decide tomorrow on the withdrawal of the DMK Ministers at the Centre at a meeting of the party’s top brass in Chennai.
This is the impression gaining ground in Congress circles here ahead of the emergency meeting of the DMK’s high-level Action Committee.
