The files were discovered on a machine removed from Paula Broadwell’s Charlotte, NC, home as the feds investigated her sordid affair with the military commander whose biography she co-wrote.
Investigators also found documents Broadwell admitted taking from secure government buildings, a source told ABC News, adding the government demanded that they all be returned.
The network said the FBI and military were going through the material this morning and prosecutors were deciding whether to charge her with a crime.
“That’s why they were pulling so much stuff out of [Broadwell’s] place,” a source said, referring to a search carried out Monday night, three days after Petraeus quit as top spy because of their affair.
The discoveries prompted the FBI to step up its probe of Broadwell, who anonymously sent harassing e-mails to Florida mom Jill Kelley — a married “friend” of the four-star general.
I stated in the original that there is a suspicion that the affair could be used to influence Petraeus‘s testimony.

On Tuesday night’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer suggested that federal government officials may have leveraged former CIA Director David Petraeus’ extramarital affair to influence what he told Congress about the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya.
“I think the really shocking news today was that Gen. Petraeus thought and hoped he could keep his job [after the affair was discovered by federal investigators],” Krauthammer said. “He thought that it might and would be kept secret, and then he could stay in his position. I think what that tells us is really important. It meant that he understood that the FBI obviously knew what was going on. He was hoping that those administration officials would not disclose what had happen and therefore hoping that he would keep his job. And that meant that he understood that his job, his reputation, his legacy, his whole celebrated life was in the hands of the administration. And he expected they would protect him by keeping it quiet.”
Petraeus briefed congressional intelligence leaders just days after the attack on Libya, reportedly telling them he believed the attack was spontaneous and not carefully pre-planned.
“And that brings us to the ultimate issue, and that is his testimony on Sept. 13,” he continued. “That’s the thing that connects the two scandals. And that’s the only thing that makes the sex scandal relevant. Otherwise it would be exercise in sensationalism and voyeurism, and nothing else. The reason that it’s important is, here’s a man who knows the administration holds his fate in his hands and he gives testimony completely at variance with what the secretary of defense had said the day before, at variance with what he heard from the station chief in Tripoli, and with everything that we had heard. Was he influenced by the fact he knew his fate was held by people in the administration at that time?”
The CIA director,David H. Petraeus has reigned from his post for his extra marital affair.
The FBI ‘stumbled’ into the evidence while checking the Director’s computer in connection with some other(?) sensitive operation.
He was to testify was scheduled to testify before a closed Congressional hearing next week on the attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans two months ago,to give the agency’s account of the chaotic night.
Considering the power of the CIA Director, this sounds too pat.
You do not just go in and check the Director’s PC for checking.
Being a Super Spook with a Military back ground the tough talking soldier would not have left any trace or he was the wrong choice as the Director for The CIA.

The relationship of the CIA with the FBI being cool at the warmest, the CIA would not have the Bureau to check on the Director.
The orders should have come from the White House for some strong reasons.
Possibility is that the security might have been compromised(there is a hint to this effect) and there could have been a ‘honey trap’
Curiously not much information on the woman involved excepting a Bio.
The other possibility is that powers that be might not have wanted him to testify in the Congress Committee with his honor in tact, to water down his testimony.

In an article he quotes extensively from sources from the US, including US Spies and US papers like New York Times, Washington Post and traces the History of the Taliban to the Times of Reagan and argues Mullah Omar was actually a Fighter against the Taliban.
After going through this one gets confused.

Steve Coll ends his important book on Afghanistan — Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan and bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to 10 September 2001–by quoting Afghan President Hamid Karzai: “What an unlucky country.” Americans might find this a convenient way to ignore what their government did in Afghanistan between 1979 and the present, but luck had nothing to do with it. Brutal, incompetent, secret operations of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, frequently manipulated by the military intelligence agencies of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, caused the catastrophic devastation of this poor country. On the evidence contained in Coll’s book Ghost Wars, neither the Americans nor their victims in numerous Muslim and Third World countries will ever know peace until the Central Intelligence Agency has been abolished. It should by now be generally accepted that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan on Christmas Eve 1979 was deliberately provoked by the United States. In his memoir published in 1996, the former CIA director Robert Gates made it clear that the American intelligence services began to aid the mujahidin guerrillas not after the Soviet invasion, but six months before it. In an interview two years later with Le Nouvel Observateur, President Carter‘s national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski proudly confirmed Gates’s assertion. “According to the official version of history,” Brzezinski said, “CIA aid to the mujahidin began during 1980, that’s to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan. But the reality, kept secret until now, is completely different: on 3 July 1979 President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And on the same day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained that in my opinion this aid would lead to a Soviet military intervention.”….
Asked whether he in any way regretted these actions,
Brzezinski replied: Regret what? The secret operation was an excellent idea. It drew the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? On the day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter, saying, in essence: ‘We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam War.’
Nouvel Observateur: “And neither do you regret having supported Islamic fundamentalism, which has given arms and advice to future terrorists?”
Brzezinski: “What is more important in world history? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some agitated Muslims or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the Cold War?
The motives of the White House and the CIA were shaped by the Cold War: a determination to kill as many Soviet soldiers as possible and the desire to restore some aura of rugged machismo as well as credibility that U.S. leaders feared they had lost when the Shah of Iran was overthrown. The CIA had no intricate strategy for the war it was unleashing in Afghanistan. Howard Hart, the agency’s representative in the Pakistani capital, told Coll that he understood his orders as: “You’re a young man; here’s your bag of money, go raise hell. Don’t fuck it up, just go out there and kill Soviets.” These orders came from a most peculiar American. William Casey, the CIA’s director from January 1981 to January 1987, was a Catholic Knight of Malta educated by Jesuits.
When neighbors came to Mullah Mohammed Omar in the spring of 1994, they had a story that was shocking even by the grim standards of Afghanistan’ s 18-year-old civil war. Two teen-age girls from the mullah’s village of Singesar had been abducted by one of the gangs of mujahedeen, or ”holy warriors,” who controlled much of the Afghan countryside. The girls’ heads had been shaved, they had been taken to a checkpoint outside the village and they had been repeatedly raped. At the time, Mullah Omar was an obscure figure, a former guerrilla commander against occupying Soviet forces who had returned home in disgust at the terror mujahedeen groups were inflicting on Afghanistan. He was living as a student, or talib, in a mud-walled religious school that centered on rote learning of the Koran. But the girls’ plight moved him to act. Gathering 30 former guerrilla fighters, who mustered between them 16 Kalashnikov rifles, he led an attack on the checkpoint, freed the girls and tied the checkpoint commander by a noose to the barrel of an old Soviet tank. As those around him shouted ”God is Great!” Mullah Omar ordered the tank barrel raised and left the dead man hanging as a grisly warning. The Singesar episode is now part of Afghan folklore. Barely 30 months after taking up his rifle, Mullah Omar is the supreme ruler of most of Afghanistan. The mullah, a heavyset 38-year old who lost his right eye in the war against the Russians, is known to his followers as Prince of All Believers. He leads an Islamic religious movement, the Taliban, that has conquered 20 of Afghanistan’ s 32 provinces..

The one month period of the top two photos indicate the facility was constructed quite quickly, perhaps after confirmation of the target required speedy construction for training.
The bottom left photo was taken two days before the raid on May 1, 2011, thus training had been completed. It appears trees and vegetation in the garden had been added to simulate the actual site, perhaps to avoid helicopter landing there.
The left courtyard of the mock-up does not match the actual site’s courtyard size and location. A model of the site was more accurate and was likely based on information gathered after that used for the mock-up.
With the careful attention to raid preparation No Easy Day describes, there could have been an expectation that the facility might appear on a public image site or details leaked by a construction worker, some mock-up features may have been constructed to differ from the target compound. Moreover, there may have been one or more mock-ups elsewhere as decoys and/or for training the multiple teams described in the book — the book’s author says a run-through practice took place at an unnamed base with a mock-up for VIP observation — and “out west.” No Easy Day excerpts below. There is no certainty that the book’s author told the whole truth (he admits to being sketchy about aspects of the training and the raid), more likely some (maybe all) of the book is customary CIA/DoD/SEAL cloaking and disinformation about operations.
It is clear that Google Earth omitted the sensitive images — the site’s historical imagery jumps from March 17, 2010 to January 30, 2012 — as an instance of its cooperation with governments worldwide. That Microsoft’s Bing did not is to be commended. even if an oversight.

Using details in the book, Cryptome.org appears to have figured out the location of a secret CIA training facility. Tuesday, the website published Bing maps that reportedly show the area in North Carolina near Harvey Point Defense Testing Facility. The Harvey Point Defense Testing Activity facility, owned by the Department of Defense, is located on a peninsula in Perquimans County, North Carolina, along the Albemarle Sound, near the city of Hertford, NC. Established in World War II as an operating base for sea planes conducting anti-submarine surveillance of the Atlantic coast, it is currently used by the CIA’s National Clandestine Service for personnel training in explosives, paramilitary combat, and other clandestine warfare techniques. A close-by Naval facility in Weeksville, NC served as a blimp base during and after WWII.
