  • Spent 1880 Crore on Sonia,Modi -RTI Activist Denies

Narendra Modi who normally has figures to back him up seems to have slipped up this time.

He alleges the Government had spent Rs.1880 Crore on Sonia Gandhi’s Foreign jaunts and medical expenses by The Government of India.

He is right in demanding that the Government reply.

He quoted an RTI application filed by one Mr.Ramesh Verma from Hisar.

Mr.Ramesh denied that he received the information from the Government.

The status, according to him is that he is yet to receive a reply though he filed the application in February 2010 and

“I did not get any information following which I moved the Chief Information Commissioner. The CIC directed the Prime Minister’s Office to furnish this information, but my file only moved around places but the information was never furnished. I have now filed another complaint stating that the information has not yet been furnished,” added Verma.

On how he managed to get information that a sum of Rs 85 lakh was spent on her foreign trips, Verma informed that this was based on his contacts. He said that he had got this information from some of his contacts abroad. “However, at no point did I mention the sum of Rs 1,880 crore as mentioned by the Gujarat chief minister,” Verma pointed out.”

He says the news about the the amount 85 lakhs spent on Sonia Gandhi’s trips abroad was from his ‘contact’.

As of now,his statements seem to be speculative and it does not suit the person of Narendra Modi’s stature to make allegations on the basis of an unverified information, if this is the source he is speaking about.

If Modi’s present out bursts prove to be founded on inaccurate information his future statements are easy for the Congress to rebut.

Modi is  a man one respects for his governance, honesty, integrity and Culture.

He need not ape Digvijay Singh

“Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi criticised theUPA government for questioning his government for spending money on festivities and celebrations, saying that central government has itself spent Rs 1,880 crore for UPA chairpersonSonia Gandhi’s foreign trips and treatment abroad over three years.

Modi said the state should not be questioned when the central government has itself spent Rs 1,880 crore for Sonia Gandhi‘s foreign trips.

Modi alleged that the Congress president was getting all facilities like special flight, which were meant only for the prime minister and president of India.

  • Fire in Mantralaya Mumbai Live Coverage-Help Lines

Initial reports indicate electrical short-circuit as the cause.

But doubts arise because important files including Adarsh Scam files were gutted.

major fire broke on Thursday broke out at ‘Mantralaya’, the Maharashtra state secretariat complex that houses offices of the chief minister, key ministers and top officials.

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Close to two hours after it was first noticed near the cabin of Tribal Welfare Minister Babanrao Pachpute on the fourth floor, the fire continued to rage till late in the afternoon even as fire fighters battled the leaping flames.

There was no immediate report of any casualty but several people were suspected trapped on the upper floors and terrace, prompting authorities to press into service contingents of the elite commandos of Force One and city police’s Quick Response Teams. Two teams from the naval dockyard were also rushed.

Panic gripped the sprawling building, the seat of state administration, after the fire, first noticed around 2.45pm, spread swiftly to fifth, sixth and seventh floors.

Towering plumes of blinding smoke soon engulfed the building making it difficult for the fire brigade to evacuate the stranded.

According to sources, nearly 5,000 people vacated the building within 20 minutes of the fire breaking out.

Fire brigade personnel with huge hydraulic ladders were seen bringing down those trapped.

Choking in thick black smoke, several people were seen standing precariously on the parapet and balconies, waiting to be rescued. Many could be seen rappelling down the ropes and drain pipes in a desperate attempt to escape.

According to sources, the Urban Development Department, which is embroiled in a controversy over the Adarsh scam, and departments of Home, Revenue and Industries were the worst affected by the fire.

The offices of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and his Deputy Ajit Pawar on the sixth floor were also damaged.

An eye witnesses said some people were injured but no immediate official confirmation was available.

Pachpute said he heard a blast soon after the blaze started. Though his staff used fire extinguishers to put out the flames, it spread rapidly.

“I ran down and pulled out my cabinet colleague Jayant Patil from his third floor cabin,” Pachpute said.

Animal Husbandry Minister Madhukar Chavan said he heard several blasts in the air-conditioners at he attempted to escape.

Pachpute said the fire brigade started its work around 3.05 pm, nearly 20 minutes after the blaze started.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik, who arrived at the spot, said the rear portion of the building had suffered the maximum damage but did not confirm if anyone was injured.

Efforts to douse the flames were hampered by winds, he said.

To persistent questions if Adarsh files had been destroyed in the fire, he said, “Our primary concern is to sort out the situation, to rescue people.”

Chief Minister Chavan and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar were superivising efforts to quell the fire and rescue the trapped

Meanwhile, the Navy has pressed into service two helicopters that hovered over the Mantralaya to rescue those who might have been stuck.

“There is nobody present on the terrace. We are using the public address system to ask those who might be trapped inside to rush to the roof-top and ropes would be dropped from the helicopters to rescue them,” a naval spokesman said.

He said frantic efforts were being made to reach those still in the building through phones.

“I also appeal to those who have access to TVs to rush to the roof-top. There are helicopters waiting to rescue you,” he said”

5.55pm: The latest reports coming from Mantralaya state that all those trapped as a result of the fire have been rescued. Several injured have been admitted to hospital, but no one is believed to be in much danger.

5.22pm: The CBI has said that all the files relevant to the Adarsh scam are safe with the courts and have not been damaged as a result of the Mantralaya fire. • Sarkaria Report-Veeranam Scam.

    C.N.Annadurai with Dr. M. Karunanidhi and K A ...
    Image via Wikipedia

This is the man who is shielding Raja.

In the final report, the Sarkaria Commission came to the following conclusion on the allegations on the Veeranam scheme:

“It has been established that Shri. Karunanidhi, abusing his official position as Chief Minister, actuated with the motive to unduly favour Sathyanarayana Brothers with the award of the contract for the Veeranam project, directed the Chief Engineer, Shri. Hussain, to tailor his recommendations on the tenders in such a manner as would enable the Government to accept the tender of Sathyanarayana Bros….

”There is no doubt that Shri. Karunanidhi was interested in the contract being given to Sathyanarayana Bros. for some extraneous consideration. In this connection two circumstances have been firmly established: 1. Purushothaman’s friendship with Maran and his exploiting this friendship to influence Karunanidhi and through him, Hussain; 2. The supply of materials worth about Rs. 59,202 by Purushothaman for construction of `Murasoli building’ without accepting payment – a fact admitted by Maran himself.

“With regard to the alleged payment of illegal gratification of Rs. 29 lakhs in seven installments by Purushothaman to Karunanidhi, the story of Purushothaman is not such that it can be rejected breevi manu. But as he is admitted an accomplice, his evidence cannot be acted upon without corroboration in material particulars by independent evidence. The corroboration available is not adequate in extent and specificity and this evidence on record goes no further than establishing a preponderance of possibility, coming perilously close to probability, in favour of this charge. The charge of accepting illegal gratification has thus not been indubitably established against Shri. Karunanidhi.

”The decision to entrust the Veeranam project to M/s Sathyanarayana Bros. was undoubtedly a major administrative blunder. Huge advances were given to this firm, not covered by the contract agreement against simple indemnity bonds. The Accountant General has adversely commented on this.

“Public money to the extent of nearly Rs. 6 crores was squandered over this project and as rightly pointed out in the report of the Technical committee set up by the State Government, the project cannot now be brought to its successful conclusion, unless the foreign collaborators, M/S Vacrete, accept full responsibility for the manufacture, testing, laying and jointing of pipes.

To the public exchequer, it would mean an additional burden of several crores and to the public looking long for adequate water supply, a tortuous wait for at least two years more. The responsibility for this huge waste of public money must rest squarely on Shri Karunanidhi and Shri Sadiq Pasha.”

The farce of democracy is in full swing.

-En masse self adduction(?) of legislators.

    their open demand for reconciliation.

partial acceptance of the demands by the CM.

-CM’s declaration each of the legislators have been bribed.

the mediation(?) by the erst while nemesis of the CM( Reddy Bros)

disqualification of the legislators by the Speaker, despite the fact that independent MLAs can not be disqualified under Anti-Defection Law.

-party MLAs can not also be disqualified before they defy the party whip or vote against the Government.

-Governor’s unsolicited advice prior to Speaker

-CM stating he shall parade the MLAs in Delhi before the president( at this rate he will parade them any where excepting in Vidhana Soudha)

    _ Kumaraswamy openly instigating MLAs.

Intention of the MLAs has been clear when they blackmailed the CM.Then and there they should have been disqualified.

Anti defection law must be to prevent destabilization and not taking action after destabilization.

Governor is within his rights to demand Second floor test

    Story:

The BJP government in Karnataka is in an open war with Governor HR Bhardwaj who termed Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s floor test a “farce” and offered him the chance of a second trust vote on October 14.

The BJP called for the immediate recall of Bhardwaj accusing him of abusing his power to destabilize the government.

Yeddyurappa has reportedly accepted the Governor’s challenge and agreed to face a second trust vote, according sources. The CM has written to the Governor agreeing to prove his majority in the state Assembly on October 14.
