    http://www.thehindu.com/news/resources/article18586067.ece/BINARY/Gazette%20notification%20on%20animal%20slaughter

Under a notification, titled the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017, those who wish to sell cattle — bulls, cows, buffaloes, steers, heifers and camels — may do so only after they formally state that the animals have not been “brought to the market for sale for slaughter”.

    Verification of buyers

At the same time, buyers of cattle at animal markets will have to verify they are agriculturalists and declare that they will not sell the animal/s for a period of six months from the date of purchase.

The rules, notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on May 23, demand that buyers “follow the State cattle protection and preservation laws” and “not sacrifice the animal for any religious purpose”. They also prohibit cattle purchased from animal markets being sold outside the State, without permission.

Monitoring committees at the State and district levels will be set up to implement the rules and monitor the functioning of animal markets. Such markets will be identified and registered; any new market that is set up will need the approval of the District Animal Market Monitoring Committee, which will be chaired by the Collector or District Magistrate.

To inhibit smuggling, animal markets may not function within 25 kilometres of a State border and 50 kilometres of an international border.

The notification banning the sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017, issued on Friday follows a Supreme Court directive to the government to form an inter-ministerial committee to recommend ways of preventing cattle smuggling.

The SC directive itself was in response to a 2014 writ petition by Gauri Mulekhi of People for Animals.

The committee recommended, among other things, rules to be framed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 to regulate livestock markets.’

  • Three Gentlemen Or Three Idiots Of Dadri ?

India is one country, where under the garb of Freedom of Speech one can get away with any thing, even murder, literally if your additional qualification is that you belong to a minority community, meaning not a Hindu!

Salman Khan, Shah Khan and AmirKhan.jpg Salman Khan, Shah Khan and AmirKhan.

    Dilip Kumar.jpg Dilip Kumar.

And if you are a tinsel God, your word is the Bible, even if you have just touched the shadows of an educational institution.

You can air your views that were a  part of bed room talk between a husband and wife.

I have ceased writing on these issues for quite some time as they are trivial , it seemed to me.

But the recent non sensical discussion on Intolerance in India forces me write for leaving these gentlemen’s statements uncontested makes them bolder and as Goebbels dictum goes, the more audacious the lie, more likely that it will be believed.

I read an article in the Tamizhaka Arasiyal , a Tamil Political bi weekly from Chennai which answers most of the issues raised by Amir Khan on intolerance in India.

The article was titled Three Idiots.

His statement that the present situation in India made his wife wonder whether India is a safer place live and whether they should consider relocating.

The article is well  written and I am writing  this article based on the Tamil Article.

It is difficult to catch the flavour of the original nor the force of the article in English.

    I shall  attempt.

‘ I am worried about the future of our children’

Said Kiran Rao Mohammad  Amir Hussein  Khan, wife of the Tinsel town Hero Amir Khan.

This, the 50-year-old actor disclosed in the Goenka Award function, alluding to the recent ‘incidents’ in India, which to him and his wife was a cause for concern.

While no body can deny the right of Mr.Khan to express his views in a country like India,a democracy, it is what he left unsaid is more pungent  that is bound have an impact on people who treat him as a demi God.

He could have stated that the recent incidents had hurt him,

Stray incidents are blown out of proportions,

In a vast country with over 23 languages and different practices, these small issues are bound to be and these should be condemned,

Or he could have said, as another legend of actor, Kamal Hassan did ( who normally takes shot at Hinduism in his movies ,though carefully skirting around Islam or Christianity), that beef eating is a matter of personal choice.

But the great Khan said neither.

Well, one can not expect anything better from one who has just touched the shadow of an educational institution!

He had not said as to which of these incidents had directly ‘threatened ‘ his child’s future. he could/should have.

    An honest Man would have.

One who had a taken a Movie PK where Hindu Gods were insulted, where Lord Shiva was portrayed as hiding behind a Toilet should pause.

Had he portrayed Gods of other Religions even in a slightly satirical fashion, especially Prophet, would he be alive today?

Mind you, this movie was released by the Censor Board of India, when the much maligned Hindutva Party, BJP is in power!

When  some objected to the portrayal of Hindu Gods in PK thus, it was Hindus who raised their voice against this.

Does he remember that One Yousuf Khan had to change his name to a Hindu name so that he could be accepted by the masses.

He was the Legendary Dilip Kumar!

Which party was in power then?

    Definitely not BJP

He could have expressed his concern about the incidents .

    .No. he did not.

How could one who was appointed as the Ambassador was Clean India drive, Swach Bharat, by the same BJP Government?

    Was he not threatened then?

Was he not concerned when his Hindu bashing movie raked in 300 Crore at the Box Office?

How come he had a heart to sow the seeds of poison among the Muslims of India, I am talking of normal Muslims, who partake food, functions and even in Temple festivals?

The irony is that Khan’s first wife Reena and his second wife Kiran Rao are Hindus.

Had he been in Saudi, Pakistan, can his wives call themselves this way, mixing up Hindu and Muslim names?

Well, if you have deicided to move away from India, which is intolerant, you could have, to liberal regimes like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia, where people are killed in the name of Law and Order in Public or by terrorists,

Pakistan where one does not know when the next attack would come.

Or To Europe or USA where Islamophobia is ranging, where in the US there is, on an average one Public shooting a Day in this year, or where a Black child was shot dead for carrying a Knife!

Despite these incidents in the US, US citizens did not consider moving away from the US,

Instead, they have made Obama, a Muslim as their President.

In India we revere Dr. Zakir Husssian, Abdul Kalam, Fakhruddin Alil Ahmed former Presidents of India,Nawab of Pataudi,Azharuddin, Bismiilah Khan, Mammotty,Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Salman Khan ,

We see them as Indians, and not merely as Muslims!

Well, if you are an Indian by heat these thoughts would not even crossed your mind.

If you had a bed room discussion, better keep it there.

India may not be filthy rich .

    It  has economic inequalities.

    Its roads are not clean.

Might be there have been instances of the sort he mentioned here and there.

    Should we not correct them?

Does it mean that one think of running away?

One does not change Fathers because one’s is not as handsome as the neighbour’s.

Did Amir Khan about the ruckus created by Muslims during the release of Kamal Hassan’s film Viswaroopam , where a scene was objected to by an unruly crowd?

Mr.Khan, if you do not like Narendra Modi, you may attack his policies( Amir Khan earlier stated he did not like Modi or his policies), as Shatrughan Sinha, a BJP big wig does.

But nobody bothers Shatrughan for he does not promote Sedition and spoils religious harmony.

You need the claps of Indians , their money and at the slightest possible excuse you want to run away?

We have another gentleman in Shah Rukh Khan who said that India is sliding back to Dark Ages( TV interview)

    Being secular has become dangerous.

He has not been able to practice his religion Islam in India.

    How?

As  when he entered into a brawl with women and cricket staff at the IPL, pitch drunk?

Islam promotes Drinking and public brawl?

    Part of practicing your religion?

When Shah Rukh Khan was questioned by Income Tax for irregularities in his Club Kolkatta Knight Riders, Modi is blamed for targeting Shah Rukh!

    Salman Khan,

A guy who killed people sleeping on the footpath by his drunken driving and changed his version so much that one thinks the  Car was driving itself!

His movies were banned in Pakistan.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan for making reference to the terrorist Hafiz Sayed!

How come these gentlemen kept quite when,

Pakistan army butchered Bangladeshis in 1971?

When Professor Joseph’s Hand was cut off in Kerala by Muslims?

Subsequent to Dadri episode Mr. Poojary was killed in Public in Mangalore?

When Snapdeal apps was uninstalled by over 100000 people, Amir Khan says he has no intention of leaving India!

    These guys, sensitive, socially conscious?

    Three Idiots’

  • Beef Eating Allowed in The Vedas Mahabharata?

There has been reports of a Man belonging to Muslim community being beaten by a mob for eating Beef.

In this connection I received a mail  as follows.

‘I saw this post in FB.  Though I do agree that lynching someone for suspecting eating of beef is quire unacceptable.  But the quotes in the post, seems to take a distorted view of our scriptures.  Would you pl enlighten on this topic ?’

The mail detailed quotes from the Mahabharata and the Upanishads that people, even rishis wee eating beef ding the Sanatana dhama period.

My view is that it looks that people were eating meat during the Vedic period.

I have provided  quotes which indicate meat-eating and those that prohibit it.

The explanations trying to explain away beef eating seems to me laboured and lack conviction.

Cow Being worshiped. Cow Being worshiped.

Another point often made in this connection is that the animal slain in the Yagnya were given life , they reached Heaven.

Bt the point is they were slain!

On consideration it looks to me that people were eating meat/beef and later it was prohibited.

A society has all sorts of people, some good, some bad and some indifferent.

One should remember that Vedic people were also humans  and were open to Human foibles.

We had Rama and Ravana;Kishna and Kamsa, Sakuni, Yudhishta and Duyodhana and Duchchatana.

Mahabharata and Ramayana are facts , Valmiki and Vyasa ecoded facts.

Had they wanted they could have painted Rama without blemish(killing Vali) , Krishna with out His Machiavellian schemes to win the Mahabharata War.

They portrayed society as it was.

As they people rose spiritually and found higher values they changed their Lifestyle and values.

Just as condemning everything modern is wrong, it is equally incorrect to say that whatever the Vedic people did was right.

And our mission should be to take what is Right in relation to Lifestyle  and advanced scientific concepts.

And savour the treasure called Hinduism…

The path to Realization as explained by the Upanishads.

Cow worshiped , Beef eating prohibited in Vedas.

    Aghnyeyam saa vardhataam mahate soubhagaaya

    Rigveda 1.164.27
Cow – The aghnya – brings us health and prosperity

    Suprapaanam Bhavatvaghnyaayaah
    Rigveda 5.83.8
There should be excellent facility for pure water for Aghnya Cow

Yah paurusheyena kravishaa samankte yo ashwena pashunaa yaatudhaanah

Yo aghnyaayaa bharati ksheeramagne teshaam sheershaani harasaapi vrishcha
    Rigveda 10.87.16

Those who feed on human, horse or animal flesh and those who destroy milk-giving Aghnya cows should be severely punished.

    Vimucchyadhvamaghnyaa devayaanaa aganma
    Yajurveda 12.73
The Aghnya cows and bulls bring you prosperity

    Bhagavata Purana:

“Those who are ignorant of real dharma and, though wicked and haughty, account themselves virtuous, kill animals without any feeling of remorse or fear of punishment. Further, in their next lives, such sinful persons will be eaten by the same creatures they have killed in this world.” (Bhagavata Purana 11.5.14)

    Beef eating in Vedas.

Rigveda (10/85/13) declares, “On the occasion of a girl’s marriage oxen and cows are slaughtered.”
Fact: The mantra states that in winter, the rays of sun get weakened and then get strong again in spring. The word used for sun-rays in ‘Go’ which also means cow and hence the mantra can also be translated by making ‘cow’ and not ‘sun-rays’ as the subject. The word used for ‘weakened’ is ‘Hanyate’ which can also mean killing. But if that be so, why would the mantra go further and state in next line (which is deliberately not translated) that in spring, they start regaining their original form.

How can a cow killed in winter regain its health in spring? This amply proves how ignorant and biased communists malign Vedas.
Claim: Rigveda (6/17/1) states that “Indra used to eat the meat of cow, calf, horse and buffalo.”

Fact: The mantra states that brilliant scholars enlighten the world in the manner that wood enhances the fire of Yajna. I fail to understand from where did Avtar Gill and his friends discover Indra, cow, calf, horse and buffalo in this mantra!”

Narada said, ‘Rantideva, the son of Srinjaya, we hear, fell a prey to death. That high-souled king had two hundred thousand cooks to distribute excellent food, raw and cooked, like unto Amrita, unto the Brahmanas, by day and by night, who might come to his house as guests. 1 The king gave away unto the Brahmanas his wealth acquired by righteous means. Having studied the Vedas, he subjugated his foes in fair fight. Of rigid vows and always engaged in due performance of sacrifices, countless animals, desirous of going to heaven, used to come to him of their own accord. 2 So large was the number of animals sacrificed in the Agnihotra of that king that the secretions flowing from his kitchen from the heaps of skins deposited there caused a veritable river which from this circumstance, came to be called theCharmanwati3 He, incessantly gave away nishkas of bright gold unto the Brahmanas, ‘I give thee nishkas.’ ‘I give thee nishkas,’ these were the words incessantly uttered by him. ‘I give thee,’ ‘I give thee’ saying these words he gave away thousands of nishkas. And once again, with soft words to the Brahmanas, he gave away nishkas. Having given away, in course of a single day, one crore of such coins, he thought that he had given away very little. And, therefore, he would give away more. Who else is there that would be able to give what

    p. 130

he gave? The king gave away wealth, thinking, If I do not give wealth in the hands of Brahmanas, great and eternal grief, without doubt, will be mine.’ For a hundred years, every fortnight, he gave unto thousands of Brahmanas a golden bull into each, followed by a century of kine and eight hundred pieces of nishkas. All the articles that were needed for his Agnihotra, and all that were needed for his other sacrifices, he gave away unto the Rishis, including Karukas 1 and water-pots and plates and beds and carpets and vehicles, and mansions and houses, and diverse kinds of trees, and various kinds of viands. Whatever utensils and articles Rantideva possessed were of gold. They that are acquainted with the history of ancient times seeing the superhuman affluence of Rantideva, sing this song, viz., ‘We have not seen such accumulated treasures even in the abode of Kuvera; what need be said, therefore, of human beings?’ And people wonderingly said, Without doubt, the kingdom of Rantideva is made of gold. 2 On such nights, when guests were assembled in the abode of Rantideva, one and twenty thousand kine were sacrificed (for feeding them). And yet the royal cook adorned with begemmed ear-rings, had to cry out, saying, ‘Eat as much soup as you like, for, of meat, there is not as much today as in other days. Whatever gold was left belonging to Rantideva, he gave even that remnant away unto the Brahmanas during the progress of one of his sacrifices. In his very sight the gods used to take the libations of clarified butter poured into the fire for them, and the Pitris the food that was offered to them, in Sraddhas. And all superior Brahmanas used to obtain from him (the means of gratifying) all their desires. When he died, O Srinjaya, who was superior to thee in respect of the four cardinal virtues and who, superior to thee was, therefore, much superior to thy son, thou shouldst not, saying, ‘Oh, Swaitya, Oh, Swaitya,’ grieve for the latter who performed no sacrifice and made no sacrificial present.’”

129:1 The Bengal reading of the second line of the second verse is vicious. At any rate, the Bombay reading is better.
