  • Agni Varuna Rudra Are Asuras

There is a conception that the terms Asura and Rakshasas are interchangeable.

These terms evoke the images of Demons and Evil Doers.

The Rakshasas are said to have been born of Brahma while He was asleep and started eating Brahma.

Brahma started yelling ‘Rakshama’- Protect Me’ and Lord Vishnu banished the Rakshasas from the Earth.

    The term Asura indicates ‘Powerful’

There is no other import to it.

    P.L. Bhargava says,

“The word, Asura, including its variants, asurya and asura, occurs 88 times in the Rigveda, 71 times in the singular number, four times in the dual, 10 times in the plural, and three times as the first member of a compound. In this, the feminine form, asuryaa, is included twice. The word, asurya, has been used 19 times as an abstract noun, while the abstract form asuratva occurs 24 times, 22 times in each of the 22 times of one hymn and twice in the other two hymns….

Bhargava believes that, in most of the ancient hymns, the word, asura, is always used as an adjective meaning “powerful” or “mighty”. In the Rigveda, two generous kings, as well as some priests, have been described as asuras. One hymn requests a son who is an asura. In nine hymns, Indra is described as asura. Five times, he is said to possess asurya, and once he is said to possess asuratva. Agni has total of 12 asura descriptions, Varuna has 10, Mitra has eight, and Rudra has six. Bhargava gives a count of the word usage for every Vedic deity.”

  • Americas The Patala Of Hinduism Mayas Hindus

I read an interesting article while researching for proof on the Vedic India encompassed the entire world.

I have posted quite a few articles on the Ancient Kingdoms of India with Time line, names,The Dynasties List and the existing archeological proof for the statement that Bharatvarsha extended throughout the world.

Kanchi Periyavar mentions this fact in the Book Deivathin Kural in Tamil( Free download of the Book is available in this site),with astonishing evidence from the Vedic Texts.

The Mayan civilization as well as the Egyptian Civilizations often intrigued me.

Their method of worship of the Sun, the reverence for the Dead and some cultural practices are very close to Hinduism.

Now on to this information in the article.

    Patala Loka
    Patala, Hinduism
    Hindus Conception of World
The World as described in the Purans

“The Vedas tell a number of valid facts about ancient America . They call Mexico and Central America Patala. In Sanskrit, Patala means ‘one of the seven regions under the earth and the abode of serpents’ According to the myths, an eagle named Garuda transported thousands of ancient mariners, called snakes (Nagas, there in its beak. Although I feel they came here in ocean-going ships, the implication is clear that they could have flown here as well. The legends of the O’odhams of Arizona describe such a sky-born ship. They call it Nah-Big, a term definitely derived from the Sanskrit Nag-Bhaga or Snake God. One cannot help but become impressed when he reads the O’odham stories of the Nah-Big. It is clear that it was some kind of flying ship. The O’odhams even speak of it as being propelled by an energy generator having positive (male) and (female) female poles…

In the Mayan-derived dialects along Mexico’s northern east coast down to and including the Central America republics, Patal means ‘abandoned or deserted land; without people.’

Naga-like derivatives also exist in Mexico . In Sanskrit, Nag-asta means Western Naga Land . The Mayan lowlands down to and including Costa Rica are called Nacaste.

According to Hindu legends, a naga could turn into a human being. In Mexico, a nagual was a were-animal. Nagual derived from the Sanskrit Nag-Baal, meaning Snake Demon…

The Hindu Naga Mayas also belonged to a powerful Dravidian group of Nagas called Asuras. Whether or not the Asuras were demi-gods or demons depended on one’s point of view. The leader of these Naga Asuras was the Hindu (really a Bulgarian) god of precious metals, wealth, traders and even agriculturists (really a group) named Kubera or Khyber (Kheever). For Christians and Jews he was Heber. This Kubera, Khyber, or Heber was leader of a horde called Yakshas or Yakhas (Biblical Joktan?). They were reputed to be both superior mentally and materially. Their servants were called Guhyakhas (Yakha shit). Today, in Judaism, which evolved from the Kubera teachings, the term has changed to Goy, but the meaning has never changed. The Kubera hordes, composed of Yakshas or Yakhas and their Guyakha underclass captured most of India’s undesirables, the unredeemably savage and cannibilistic Rakshasas, exiling them to Ceylon or Lanka. Later, they exiled them to Patala, supposedly in air ships.

The Mayas had their own nation in Lanka, also named Maya, with a sub-group called Laks (Mexico’s Lacandones). It is a strange anomaly that Rama, Lenka (Lanka), and Lacandon Mayan peoples exist in Meso-America, including the inhabitants of Yucatan (Yakhustan; Joktan?)…

In India, many Hindus love to mention them as a superior race of people who came to them from Uttara Kuru ( Siberia and the North Pole). Yet, the Kurus (Ari) and Ramas were just the Indian people themselves who once inhabited the whole of the Eastern Hemisphere — Kurus the north, and Ramas, the Indian sub continent itself. In the mythologies of all the world, the Kurus (Turks) and the Hindus (Ramas) are the Holy Twins. Although both groups were partners (twins) in international trading, the Kurus (Turks) provided the shipping and the Ramas their services as warrior traders. The Ramas were ferocious warriors, just as they were described in the Mahabharata.

It just so happens that the Carib (Cariva) Indians of the Caribbean islands claimed that their creator gods were the Kuru Rumani. The Mexicans will tell you that the state of Veracruz derives its name from Ver a Cruz (Seeing at a Cross), but such a name is preposterous for a variety of reasons. The people of Vera Cruz are really descendants of Carib Indians, called Vira–Kurus (Hero Kurus). Emperor Moctezuma of Mexico himself told the Spaniards that the Mexican royal family descended from a ruling eastern caste called Colhua, the only way the Aztecs could pronounce Kaurava.

I could provide almost an infinity of evidence to validate my claim that the Kurus and Ramas (Aryans and sub-continent Hindus) first colonized the Americas , but that’s not necessary. What I have to say in the last part of this article is sufficient unto itself.

The Hindus of antiquity had an ancient astro-geographical map with four lotus petals pointing in the cardinal directions, called Mt. Meru (the world mountain). The point of the left petal fell on a seaport called Ketumala or Chetumala. Both pronunciations were used. The lower center petal was Jambudvipa (subcontinent India ).”

  • Jainism Buddhism Created By Lord Vishnu.

There are twelve Avatars of Vishnu which is in vogue.

There is also a list of the 28 Avatars of Vishnu, about which I have blogged.

The Vishnu Purana states that the Jainism and Buddhism were a created deliberately by Lord Vishnu as a curse to ensure that the Asuras do not follow the Vedas, as the strict adherence to the Vedas by the Asuras were making them stronger and more powerful than the Devas.

    The narration is like this.

Mahavir , the Founder of Jainism
    Mahavira,Jainism-The last Thirthankara.

During one of the innumerable wars between the Devas ans the Asuras, the Asuras were gaining the upper hand and the Devas entreated Lord Vishnu to save them.

Lord Vishnu created Maya Mohan,One who appears to be Real but illusory, that is the Preaching would be deceptively similar to the Vedas but against the Authority of the Vedas.

Maya Mohan taught the new system to the Asuras and as they were listening attentively, he ,Lord Vishnu, kept repeating ‘Arhatha, Arhata’,’Be Deserved for this’

This body of Teaching later came to be known as ‘Arhatha’ which term became corrupted later and was known as Jainism.

So the Asuras started following the new Religion.

The word Jainism is derived from a Sanskrit verb Jin which means to conquer. It refers to a battle with the passions and bodily pleasures that the jainaascetics undertake. Those who win this battle are termed as Jina (conqueror). The term Jaina is thus used to refer to laymen and ascetics of this tradition alike.

It could also indicate thet Lord Vishnu conquered the Asuras or the Devas conquered them.

The Jaina meta Physics closely resembles, in fact most of them are from, Hinduism.

Jaina metaphysics is based on seven or nine fundamentals which are known as tattva, constituting an attempt to explain the nature of the human predicament and to provide solutions to it:[34]

    1. Jīva: The essence of living entities is called jiva, a substance which is different from the body that houses it. Consciousness, knowledge and perception are its fundamental attributes.
    2. Ajīva: Non-living entities that consist of matter, space and time fall into the category of ajiva.
    3. Asrava: The interaction between jīva and ajīva causes the influx of a karma (a particular form of ajiva) into the soul, to which it then adheres.
    4. Bandha: The karma masks the jiva and restricts it from having its true potential of perfect knowledge and perception.
    5. Saṃvara: Through right conduct, it is possible to stop the influx of additional karma.
    6. Nirjarā: By performing asceticism, it is possible to shred or burn up the existing karma.
    7. Mokṣa: The jiva which has removed its karma is said to be liberated and to have its pure, intrinsic quality of perfect knowledge in its true form.

Some authors add two additional categories: the meritorious and demeritorious acts related to karma. These are called puṇya and pāpa respectively. These fundamentals acts as the basis for the Jain metaphysics..

Jainism Karma Theory is the strict interpretation of Hindu Karma Theory.

    Buddhism.

As some of the Asuras did not follow these teachings, Lord Vishnu taught another body of thought saying ‘Buddhyatvam, Buddhyatha’.

The One who propounded this Theory was called the Buddha.

This body of thoughts became known as Buddhism.

Buddhism also closely follows Hinduism excepting the denial of God.

It may be appreciated that Adi Sankaracharya was called a ‘Pseudo Buddhist for his interpretations of the Mahavaayas, while arriving at Advaita.

Buddhism is Nihilist while Advaita defines Reality as Not Two.

This may be the reason for the fact that Jainism contains most of the Teachings of the Vedas, especially the Rules to follow in Life.

  • Since When Were Brahmins Barred From Drinking

Contrary to popular conception Brahmins did not Drink, it is a fact that Brahmins , Sages, Rishis and Munis drank liquor.

    Soma plant.
Indian troops deployed in the drastic terrains of the cold desert in Leh may look forward to get a new item in their menu, as the defense researchers find that Soma (Rumex patientia), a common plant found in high altitudes, can be used as a vegetable. According to researchers at the Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), a division of the Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO), Soma is fit to be used as a vegetable in cold desert areas where cultivation of common vegetables are not supported.

Even Lord Ram and Krishna drank

I have posted articles on this with references.

But there is a view , including from Mr.Cho.Ramaswamy that Soma and Sura bana were different  and that the consumption of Soma Bana does not amount to Drinking Liquor as it is not an intoxicant and it  is used in the Yagnas.

Soma bana is assumed to be a non intoxicant which was used in the performance of Yagnas and as such does not constitute drinking.

Sura bana consumption is of course accepted ad a Drink and blamed as such.

Facts seem to be other wise.

if Soma was to be drunk why should it be drunk when one does not perform Yagna?

It is stated in the Rig Veda that it leads to Immortality and it tastes as Nectar.

    The Rigveda (8.48.3) says:

ápāma sómam amŕtā abhūmâganma jyótir ávidāma devân
kíṃ nūnám asmân kṛṇavad árātiḥ kím u dhūrtír amṛta mártyasya

Ralph T.H. Griffith translates this as:

We have drunk Soma and become immortal; we have attained the light, the Gods discovered.
Now what may foeman’s malice do to harm us? What, O Immortal, mortal man’s deception?

Soma Bana was served in Social functions and Government councils

This sounds strange for a group which abstains from any intoxicating stuff whatsoever and is choosy about what they eat.

The answer is that the Vedas and the Indian Society recorded facts without bothering whether it would affect the Image of Hinduism.

It also records the Sins that will accrue by Drinking.

I have been curious that if Gods were shown to be drinking along with Sages and others, why ban it for Brahmins.

    Some Sages were Brahmins too!

Answer is in the Mahabharata Adi Parva.

The Preceptor of the Devas.s, (Bruhaspati) son( Kusa, (was sent by Indra and the Devas to go and serve Asura Guru Sukracharia , get into the good books of Devayani, Sukra’s daughter so that Kusa learns the Sanjeevini Mantra with which Sukra was making the Asuras rise from the dead, against whom the Devas were losing heavily.

Kusa served Sukra as a Brahmachari for 1000 years in total.

After 500 years the Asuras, having learnt that he was the son of Bruhaspati, killed him and fed him to animals twice.

In both the instances Bruhaspati resurrected him.

Exasperated the Asuras killed Kusa, burnt him , dissolved his ashes in the Drink which they made Sukra drink.

When Sukra tried to resurrect Kusa, Sukra learnt from Kusa who was in Sukra’s stomach the story of his killing and how he was drunk by Sukra along with the Drink.

    Immediately Sukra declared,

‘May all  the Devas, Rishis and Brahmins learn this.

From this day any one who drinks will lose his identity as a Brahmin and will suffer both her and after Life.”

Thus came about the ban on Brahmins Drinking.

Sukra taught Kusa the Sanjeevini Mantra to enable him come out of his stomach.
