The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 1,500,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 64 days for that many people to see it.
I do not know whether it is a left-handed compliment.
The byline is interesting.
You’ve made 4,000 posts on Tumblr!
That’s a lot of posts! It would take an average cat nearly 30 years to read your entire blog.
Be that as it may. let me share some thoughts.
The Statistics of Ramani’s blog is,
Posts 6341.

Hope there is some quality amongst these numbers!
Apart from the pleasure blogging gives me is the quality of the Readers.
Most of them are highly qualified and are in fact among those who can be counted in their professions.
I try to be objective with good Sources for my articles.
However errors some time creep in and I correct them if brought to my notice.
Truth being bitter, I am criticized from both the sides of an issue.
By Muslims for my posts on Islam and Terrorism Christians for Conversions and Pope and Hindus for writing on Kanchi Shankaracharya and wrong practices in Hinduism.
By the Right as a Communist and the Conservatives as a Capitalist.
By Tamils as Brahmin bigot and others for promoting Tamil.!
I am indeed privileged to have among my subscribers a former Supreme Court Judge who headed a sensitive Commission of Enquiry set up by the Government of India,Top Doctors and Media persons.
I am grateful to all the readers.
Most of the readers’ Comments are informative and suggestive , which enables to write more.
(As when you write on Subjects, .present research papers where you need authenticity.
You then have open sources like wiki.)
If one is commenting on an issue, one has to quote the source.
While quoting ‘portions of the news,Story has to be posted in the post one is writing.
What is Plagiarism in a Blog?
In general quoting some one else’s post/information word for word ,quotes without permission,or quoting information provided by others as one’s own with slight modifications.is generally classified as Plagiarism.
If one were to post entirely on one’s own, the post may not be interesting without references, , in the case of information, there will be lack of authenticity.
Does it not amount to using others whole posts under one Link?
There is no answer to this query.
There are soft-wares to check Plagiarism.
Copyscape is one good site, where one gets to know how the material of similar nature is in the web and it calculates and lets you know what percentage of words are in common.
And there is also the point of Google penalizing your site for Plagiarism and thee are chances of Google Page ranker passing over your site.
You may find more information on Plagiarism, Penalty for Plagiarism at
However, it is safe to cite sources and mark it clearly in the Posts.
It would be good if the source is marked as ‘Source’ in the Post with a Link of the relevant material quoted.
This applies to images as well.
Quote as .image from or image source the link of the web page from where you are using,
In some case you may get permission from the Authors to use them in your posts.
How many words or what percentage one may use from sources?
It is very delicate and depends on the nature of the Post, the word count of your Post.
It is safe to quote with source maximum 200 words in a Post of 800 words or roughly 25 % at the most.
So it is better to be original and wherever we feel necessary we may use other posts, material with citations, like marked as Source, with words from the source not exceeding 200 words in a Post of 800 words.
Lesser than this is ideal and this depends on your judgement.
Though I had an idea that I would be completing four years, I did not think of it much as I was not really bothered about writing about it.
However I received a notification from WordPress that this milestone(?) may be blogged as the blog has some interesting features.
Following are the salient points.

This is the statistical part of it.
What is more important to me is that I came across very good posts in my search for writing;some of them are found not on the first twenty results of Google search, but are very good in terms of content.
This reaffirms my belief that good articles need not be restricted to the first page results alone.
Probably, these people are also like me, want to share information yet do not know(as I do) the nuances of getting a place in the first Page search results.
Many of my posts do find a place in the first results though.
Good content is always appreciated, more importantly useful.
This I have learnt from the feedback for my posts.
People do write to me to elaborate on a particular subject, which I have blogged about :and in many a case suggest topics.
This is the part I enjoy the most.
I do get criticisms ;fortunately most of them are creative, guiding me towards clarity and research.
Now most of my posts are on the basis of what the readers want and about what I am confident of writing.
I do research.
More than the readers I am happy I can acquire information.
I had an initial perception that writing about a popular topic shall drive traffic to your site.
Now I find that content drives.
Yet writing on popular topics gets you the initial readers and on their recommendations you get established.
Then one can write to engage the readers by writing what they want and about what one is confident about.
I have received queries from some bloggers that they have a personal blog and in their opinion they are not getting the Hits as they should, in their opinion.
My answer is that if your content is useful and interesting, Hits will come, though it might take some time. none can say how long.
Some of posts dating back to 2009 are Hits now.
Thank God, I did not delete them;on the contrary, I update them frequently.
