Sources tell me investigators are looking for possible aborted babies in the backyard of Ariel Castro’s house.

As more details emerge about the abduction and captivity of the three women rescued from their captors yesterday in Cleveland, the story only gets more horrific.

Now, WKYC reports that there were five pregnancies among the three captive women, and the women were beaten and raped while pregnant.

Meanwhile, Scott Taylor of 19 Action News has tweeted that cops are digging for “possible aborted babies” in the backyard.

One 6-year-old girl, apparently the daughter of kidnap victim Amanda Berry, was rescued along with the women. If there were five pregnancies, that leaves four unaccounted for…

‘What the neighbors saw was terrifying and dehumanizing: Naked women on dog leashes, crawling in the dirt. A lady clutching an infant and pounding on a window for help.

Yet neighbors said the gut-wrenching reports couldn’t persuade the Cleveland cops to go inside the rundown house — where three women kidnapped between 2002 and 2004 were held hostage by the vile homeowner, officials said.

Police banged on the door of the two-story home three times between 2004 and 2011, but never followed up or uncovered the continuing nightmare on Seymour Ave., according to neighbors and authorities.

The hostages were probably inside each time the cops arrived, authorities said.

“They didn’t take it seriously,” said Elsie Cintron, who lived three doors down from the ramshackle residence where the three victims finally broke free Monday evening.

Ariel Castro, 52, is the man accused of kidnapping Amanda Berry , Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight and holding them hostage for 10 years in a dungeon at his home in Cleveland, Ohio — where they were bound in chains and allegedly used as sex slaves.

Castro is the owner of the house of horrors at 2207 Seymour Avenue — which he bought for $12,000 in 1992 from Edwin and Antonia Castro — but two of his brothers, Pedro, 54, and Onil, 50, have also been arrested in the case.

On his Facebook page, Castro says he became a grandfather for the fifth time on April 11. It’s also confirmed he has at least one son and daughter and is divorced from a violent marriage to a woman who later died.

Sources say five pregnancies took place in the basement lair where Castro kept his victims. While Amanda Berry’s 6-year-old child was discovered in Monday’s miraculous rescue, but there is no other sign, or remains, of young children at the home.
