  • Cable War ,SUN TV, under Pressure, Cuts Cables.

    Under siege from  CBI and ED, SUNNETWORK is facing a new pressure from Arasu Cable of Tamil Nadu Government and is resorting to rowdyism to gain ground.

    Arasu Cable was revived by Karunanidhi himself( started by Jayalaithaa when she was in power last time and karunanidhi, who did not have time to meet the Governor on Tamil Genocide, went to Raj Bhavan to complain that Arasu cable was hurting his family Business!) to settle scores with Dayanidhi Maran in the wake of the news published by Dinakaran,a Tamil Daly belonging to SUN group to the effect that M.K.Stalin of DMK(son of Karunanidhi) is preferred over M.K.Azhagiri, another son of Karunanidhi and Union Minister of Fertilizers as future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.-Dinakaran office was burned and people lost lives,aides of Azhagiri were arrested , freed for want of evidence;they are now in prison in another case..more intriguing than Ludlum’s Novels)

     

    Later the Family united and Karunanidhi shelved the Arasu Cable TV started by the Government with an investment of 100 crores.

     

    The IAS officer,Umashankar was suspended for trying to promote the Arasu Cable.

     

    Now Jayalalithaa has revived the Arasu Cable and it has become operational in Tamil Nadu,other than Chennai.

     

    There are 50,000 Cable operators in Tamil Nadu with 1,45,00000 connections.

     

    34,400 Operators have joined Arasu Cable.

     

    This has hit SUN Cable Vision.

     

    SUN has started ,in fact it has been the case since the inception of the Cable arm of SUN, blackmailing the operators into joining their Net work and leave Arasu Cable.

     

    Arasu Cable is offering 90 free channels @Rs.70/month against Rs 150-200 for SUN.

     

    It has popular packs excluding SUN NETWORK.

     

    Fun is that Kalignar TV,a Company run by M.K.Kanimozhi, daughter of Karunanidhi who is in jail for 2 G scam is included in the Arasu Cable pack!

     

    By force, because their party was in power,SUN TV has confiscated the connections of cable operators inChennai,Madurai,Tiruchi,Coimbatore,Tiuppur,Thanjavur and Erode.

     

    In 2009,30 Cable Operators‘ families who have resisted SUN TV have been forced to flee from Thanjavur.

     

    SUN is earning about Rs. 12 Crores /month from these forcibly obtained connections.

     

    The MSO’s are being threatened to be with SUN.

     

    Now that the Government has changed, SUN is resorting to cutting the Cables of the Operators who are with the Arasu Cables.

    By attaching a Gadget priced at Rs 100,  to the Cables of those who do not have SUN package, SUN ensures that the picture quality becomes very hazy.

    They have also infiltrated the Operators who have joined Arasu Cable  and are taking out processions and demonstrations purportedly from Public that Popular Channels(read SUN Network are not available in Arasu Cable).

     

    Because of these tactics, TV viewers are switching to DTH, where again SUN is offering their packs at throw away prices.( please read my blog on ‘Choosing your Cable/DTH’) 

     

    SUN also causes leakage  in Arasu Cables and makes SUN available in the Arasu package, which is illegal.

     

    SUN is fighting this issue in the Court stating that they have no hand in this.

     

    As the Arasu Cable is becoming popular, it is reported that those that have paid SUN TV to include their packs , are demanding their money back

    Cases relating to Dinakaran Daily attack(Attack Pandi is said to have led the attack) ,Krishnan murder case and land grabbing cases are being reopened.

    Rumors circulated by the Intelligence Bureau of Tamil Nadu Police work overtime to alienate M.K.Stalin and Azhagiri further.

    Murder Cases against DMK Leaders.

    Unsolved murder cases purported to  involve DMK men, especially of Ministers and District Secretaries  are being dusted  up.In many of the cases , FIRs against DMK big wigs have not even been filed by Police because of DMK pressure.

    Some cases are:

    Tiruchi Brokers (Double Murder) involving K.N.Nehru and his brother Rama Jayam.

    Hashish Case-DMK Tiruchi Deputy Secretary DMK.

    Kuppuraj,Salem-6 people of a Family were murdered.

    DMK ex Minister Veerapandi Arumugam‘s brother’s son Paarappatti Suresh, lieutenant  of Arumugam.

    Assault case-NKP Raja Erode, Former Minister .

    Cases have been filed against 9 Ministers under this head.

    It includes KN.Nehru,Durai Murugan,Ponmudi , MRK. Panner Selvam and A.V.Velu.

    The disproportionate assets include Mega Colleges,Deemed Universities,Liquor Factories,Sand Mining Companies and Industries.

    This includes the Auditor of DMK head quarters.

    When Jayalalithaa was in the Opposition she accused the DMK of unduly favoring STAR Insurance, through which the Government had insured all the State Government Employees.

    This Group has been entrusted with major Infrastructure works including the Construction of the new Secretariat.

    The ill gotten gains from all sources including  2G scam, were routed through this Company.

    Jayalalithaa has scrapped the Insurance Scheme.

    The company was earning Rs.750 Crores per annum as premium.

    The Company has been forced to dismiss 1200 workers .

    Enquiry Commission has been set up to investigate the Constructions undertaken by the Group.

    Thus the fund flow to the Party has been blocked.

    DMK leader and former higher education minister K Ponmudi was arrested on Wednesday on land grab charges, police said.

    A police officer in Villupuram district said that land was allotted to a housing colony, children’s park and community hall for the employees of the state transport corporation.

    The land allotted for children’s park and community hall was tendered out without proper authorisation and the Siga Educational Trust, belonging to Ponmudi, took over the land.

    Senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister K Ponmudi was on Wednesday arrested in a land grabbing case.

    Ponmudi, former higher education minister, was arrested from his native Villupuram, 160 km from Chennai, police said.

    He is the fourth former minister after Veerapandi S Arumugam (Salem), K N Nehru (Tiruchirappalli) and N K K P Raja (Erode) to be arrested on land grabbing charges in the crackdown launched by the Jayalalithaa  Government on land grabbing.

    Besides these four, several other DMK functionaries including MLAs J Anbazhagan (Chepauk) and Soundarapandian (Lalgudi) and some close associates of Union Minister M K Alagiri have been arrested by the police in the past three months, an action dubbed as political vendetta by the opposition party.

    Tirunelveli, Jul 20: Union Minister for Chemicals and fertilisers and DMK leader M K Alagiri today (Jul 20) visited Central prison at Palayamkottai here and met four party functionaries who had been arrested and remanded in a land grabbing case.

    The four are G Thalapathi, N Suresh Babu (DMK executive ccommittee member) KrishnaPandi and Kodi Chandrasekharan.

  • Jayalalithaa’s Strategy to Decimate DMK.-Part I

    Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa seems to have worked out a well planned strategy to decimate the DMK,headed by Karunanidhi.

    During her last tenure as Chief Minister she had Karunanidhi arrested, which he made use of by having the arrest telecast live by SUNNETWORK and gained public sympathy.

    Now she is not prepared to repeat the mistake.

    Block the propaganda Arm,SUN TV.

    She had ordered the arrest of Saxena,CEO of SUN TV on variuos grounds including fraud,cheating and illegal  business practices.

    In fact the arrest of Saxena triggered celebrations by the Tamil Film Industry.

    She has revived the Tamil Nadu Government owned Cable TV Corporation(ironically, started by Karunanidhi to check SUNNETWORK), to hit their cable Network Sumangali.

    The SUN Boss Kalanidhi Maran has also been slapped with criminal/civil cases.

    Those in the Film Industry who were threatened during the DMK regime by the SUNNETWORK, be it Production,Distribution or Exhibition to the advantage of the DMK Family have been filing cases from all parts of Tamil Nadu.

    SUNTV has its hands full fighting their cases and has no time to promote DMK.

    In fact it even started airing news of Kanimozhi being jailed(which Kalaignar TV Blocked) and of Vijayakanth.

        Azhagiri.

    His rowdy lieutenants/killers were arrested-Pottu Suresh,Attack Pandi and ESSAR Gopi.

    They started singing ,implicating Azhagiri.

    The Tashildar who made criminal allegations against Azhagiri withdrew them on Azhagiri’s pressure.

    Now he has lodged a complaint against Azhagiri.

    Azhagiri was acquitted in Krishnan’s murder case and was acuitted because many witnesses turned hostile and the DMK government did not appeal.

    Jayalaithaa is planning to go in for appeal.

    Azhagiri’s assets are being evaluated and cases are being prepared in Land grabbing cases.

    Ex FBI Chief Freech is reported to have helped CBI to meet Sivasankaran to record the written statement of NRI businessman and Chairman of the Sterling Group, C Shivasankaran, shortly.

    Let us see what Maran has to say on this.

    The role of the NRI businessman could be critical to the next stage of investigations in the 2G scam. This is because Textiles Minister and former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran is currently under attack for being in an A Raja-like situation to allegedly favour the Malasiya-based Maxis Group and its proprieter Ananda Krishnan in the award of 14 UASL licences for his company, Aircel.

    And it was Shivasankaran, who in 2005 — after his applications for more licences were reportedly put in cold storage by the Telecom Ministry — sold his entire stake in Aircel to Maxis and their Indian partner, the Reddy family of Apollo Hospital with a 74% and 26% equity respectively.

    The deal was struck for $1.08 billion and within a short time, all pending applications of Aircel were cleared by the Ministry along with seven more. Maran and Maxims now face allegations of…

    a quid pro quo since months after the grant of new licences, group companies of Ananda Krishnan reportedly put in $150 million (approximately Rs 600 crore) into DMK-owned Sun TV.
