    * Friends please settle down, I’ll get more emotional! It’s hard to believe my wonderful journey is coming to an end.

    * I have got a list of people to thank because sometimes I forget.

    * I would like thank everyone who has made this possible.

    * Its getting little difficult to talk but I’ll manage.

    * I would like to thank my father. Without his guidance, I don’t think I would be standing here. He told me never to take shortcuts and never give up. And above all he told me to be a better human being.

    * Every time I held my bat up, it was for my father.

    * I thank my mother for taking care of me and praying for me. A big thank you to my mother for all the sacrifices. I don’t know how she managed a naughty child like me. She just prayed and prayed from the day I started playing the game.

    * I’d like to thank my aunt and uncle who fed me while I was living with him.

    * To my siblings for their encouragement, advice and support.

*My eldest brother Nitin doesn’t like to talk much but he said, ‘whatever you do, I know you will give 100 per cent’. My first cricket bat was presented to me by my sister Savita. It was a Kashmir willow. She still continues to fast while I bat.

    * My brother Ajit has lived this journey with me. I don’t know how to thank him enough.

    * The most beautiful thing that happened to me in my life was in 1990 when I met my wife Anjali. She took a backstep from her career as a doctor and she looked after my family. Thank you for bearing with me. You’re the best partner.

    * Two precious gems of my life Sara and Arjun. I’m sorry for missing your annual day, sometimes your birthdays. Thank you for understanding that. I know for 14-16 years I’ve not spent enough time with you. But I promise you that the next 16 and the many more after that are yours.

    * I’d like to thank my in laws and my friends.

    * In the last 24 years my friends have made terrific contributions. They have been with me while I was stressed. They have been with me even at 3am when I was injured. Thanks for being there for me

    * My cricket career started when I was 11, turning point came when Ajit took me to my coach Ramakant Achrekar.

    * I would like to thank the Mumbai Cricket Association for taking care of me.

    * For 29 years my coach Achrekar has never said ‘well played’ to me as he thought I would get complacent. I was extremely delighted to see Achrekar sir in the stands. I used to ride on his scooter and play two matches a day. Sir took me along to make sure I played.

    * You are like my family away from home…my teammates. I know you will serve the country effectively. I have full faith in you guys.

    * It is going to be difficult not be part of the dressing room, not to share the special moments

    * I thank my physios, doctors for keeping me fit. My first manager, Masceranhes for all his support and encouragement.

    * I understood what it requires to play for the country. I understood the gravity of it. Thank you to everyone who shared my vision.

    * I thank the media for supporting me. I thank all the photographers as well for all the wonderful photographs.

    * Lastly, i want to thank all the people here who have flown from all over the world for supporting me. Whether it was a zero or a century, you’ve always been there for me. You guys have faste for me and done many other things. Memories like these are going to stay on with me forever. Thank you being there for me. I would not be the person I am if it wasn’t for you.

    * I’m sorry if I have forgotten someone. Goodbye..

“Friends please settle down, I’ll get more emotional. It’s hard to believe my wonderful journey is coming to an end, my life between 22 yards for 24 years has come to an end. I’ve a list of names to thank. The first is my father, who passed away in 1999. Without his guidance I wouldn’t be standing in front of you. He said ‘chase your dreams, don’t give up, the path will be difficult.’ I miss him today. My mom, I don’t know how she managed a naughty child like me. She just prayed and prayed from the day I started playing the game. For four years I stayed with my uncle and aunt when in school, they treated me like their own son. My eldest brother Nitin doesn’t like to talk much but he said, whatever you do, I know you will give 100%. My first cricket bat was presented to me by my sister Savita. She still continues to fast while I bat. Ajit my brother – we have lived this dream together, he sacrificed his career for me — he took me to Achrekar sir first. Even last night he called me to discuss my dismissal. Even when I’m not playing we will still be discussing technique. If that hadn’t happened, I would have been a lesser cricketer.

“The most beautiful thing happened to me when I met Anjali in 1990. I know that being a doctor there was a big career in front of her. But she decides that I should continue playing and she took care of the children. Thanks for bearing with me for all the nonsense I’ve said (Anjali wipes tears). Then the two precious diamonds of my life Sara and Arjun. I’ve missed out on several birthdays, holidays, annual days. I know for 14-16 years I’ve not spent enough time with you. But I promise you I will spend the next 16 or whatever is left. “My in-laws — I’ve discussed several things with them. The most important thing they did was allow me to marry Anjali. In the last 24 years my friends have made terrific contributions. They have been with me while I was stressed. They have been with me even at 3 AM when I was injured. Thanks for being there for me. “My career started when I was 11. I was extremely delighted to see Achrekar sir in the stands. I used to ride on his scooter and play two matches a day. Sir took me along to make sure I played. On a lighter note, Sir never said ‘well played’ because he didn’t want me to be complacent. You can push your luck now, Sir, since I’m not playing cricket anymore. “I started my career here in Mumbai. I remember landing from NZ at 4 AM and playing a Ranji game the next day. The BCCI was fantastic from my debut. Thanks to the selectors. You were right with me making sure my treatment was taken care of. “Thanks to all the senior cricketers who have played with me. We see on the screen Rahul, VVS, Sourav and Anil — who is not here. All the coaches. I know when MS presented the 200th Test cap, I had a message to the team — I said we are all so proud to be representing the nation. I hope to continue to serve the nation with dignity. I have full faith that you will serve the country in the right spirit. I will be failing in my duty if I didn’t thank the doctors who have kept me fit. Given the injuries I have suffered. They have treated me in odd hours. My dear friend the late Mark Mascarenhas. I miss him. My current management team WSG, for continuing what Mark has done. Someone who has worked closely with me for 14 years is my friend Vinay Nayudu. “The media has backed me a lot, since my school days. Even today. Thank you. Thanks to the photographers for capturing those moments. “I know my speech has become long. I want to thank people who have flown in from different parts of the world. I want to thank my fans from the bottom of my heart. “Sachin, Sachin” will reverberate in my ears till I stop breathing.”

  • How To Perform Tulabharam.

It is the practice among Hindus, and even among the other communities to perform Thulabara’, weighing one against materials and offering to God.

This is offered mainly to Lord Guruvayurappan, Guruvayoor, Kerala.

    Tulabaram.
    Thulabharam Sculpture.

Right now people walk in have the child weighed against the material they have vowed to perform the Tulabaram and have the material submitted to God.

The Puranas prescribe a procedure for performing the Tulabharam.

    The procedure.

1The parents of the child must fast on the day of the Tulabharam.

2.Perform pooja for Graha Devatas, Family Deity and Personal Deity.

3.Have a Yagashala prepared, perform Yaga for Ganapathy, Subrahmanya  and Siva.

4.Also perform the Yaga for the Deity to whom the Tulabharam is offered.

5.Then the child should be weighed in a Balance and the offering , equal to the weight of the child,is to be submitted to the Lord.

6.In the case of Adults, they have to stand in the Balance, have their palms folded ‘repent their sins and Pray that the Tulabharam is completed successfully.

The child can be fed during the day of the Tulabharam and not the Adults.

    Source:

    Sri Siva Purana.

Tulabharam is a Hindu ritual that has been practised from Dwapara Yuga. Tulabharam means a person weighing himself or herself in a balance and pay in equal weight of gold, fruits or grains to God when one’s prayers are fulfilled. Temples in Tirupati, Guruvayur, Dwaraka, Udupi and several other towns practice such offerings. Recently, Guruvayur temple hit the headlines in newspapers when a businessman from Bangalore gave the temple his weight in gold – 70 kg. Tirupati temple hits the headlines now and then when famous politicians and film stars give something to god measure for measure. This is offered to the gods when their prayers are answered.

The earliest reference to a Tulabharam comes from the Mahabharata, about the great emperor Sibi. He was so famous his name is found in ancient Tamil Sangam literature in four places and later in hundreds of places. He was even praised in Buddhist Jataka stories and Borobudur (Indonesia) sculptures. Emperor Sibi was a just king. Lord Indra and Agni wanted to test him and came in the form of an eagle and a dove. When the dove came to Sibi for protection from the chasing eagle, Sibi was ready to offer anything to save the dove. The eagle asked him to give his flesh measure for measure. Sibi cut himself bit by bit but the pans in the balance were never equal. At last when he himself stood on the pan the Gods appeared in front of him and blessed him. The story is found in other Sanskrit works as well.”

  • Fraud That is Stock Market, How Naming Drives.

I am one of the view that the stock market is a huge fraud and a form of legitimized gambling with the active connivance of the Governments.

The stock market is played by a minuscule percentage in India, may be .001 % of the population.

But th Government decides its policies on its performance.

One would expect the economy in prosperity when the stock market is booming.

    But facts are other wise.

When the stock market is down, the economy is cited as the reason for the poor performance.

Prosperity of the share market is for the prosperity of the Rich.

Having been in a Senior management position I know how the IPOs are rigged.

You pay a percentage to the underwriters.

They, who have funds at their disposal or contacts, including the Banks and Institutions, buy up the stocks, and inflate the price.

Gullible Public laps it up and it drives by.

Again the stock prices go up.

The underwriters cash in on the boom and quit, depending on the new business they get.

The promoters, depending on whether they want to run the business or run away either cash in on the boom or continue fixing up Institutions.

This is only the tip of the iceberg.

Now The New Yorker has published a report as to how stocks rise in prices.

By a simple piece of clever naming!

    Story:

Between the beginning of October and early November, the following eight companies were among more than twenty that began trading on the New York Stock Exchange: OCI Partners, Springleaf Holdings, Brixmor Property Group, Essent Group, 58.com, Mavenir Systems, Midcoast Energy Partners, and Twitter. They’re a diverse group of tech, energy, property, and finance companies, valued at their respective I.P.O.s between three hundred and sixty million dollars (Mavenir Systems) and $24.5 billion dollars (Twitter).

By the end of their first day of trading, Midcoast, Springleaf, 58.com, and OCI had risen in value, whereas Essent, Brixmor, Mavenir, and Twitter had fallen. At first it’s hard to discern a difference between the early appreciators and the early depreciators. Many experts argue that it’s impossible to reliably forecast stock prices in the short run. In his classic 1973 guide to investing, “A Random Walk Down Wall Street,” the Princeton economist Burton Malkiel famously claimed that “a blindfolded monkey throwing darts at a newspaper’s financial pages could select a portfolio that would do just as well as one carefully selected by experts.” Investors, Malkiel argued, were at the mercy of the markets, and though prices generally rise in the long run, it’s impossible to beat the market reliably and consistently. Malkiel’s book has sold more than a million copies…

Short-term investing is certainly a gamble, but if you look back at the eight companies, you’ll find one subtle feature that distinguishes the climbers from the fallers: whether their ticker symbols are pronounceable according to the rules of English—that is, whether it’s possible to read them out loud as if they were words, without adding extra sounds. The pronounceable OCIP, MEP, LEAF, and WUBA (OCI, Midcoast, Springleaf, and 58.com, respectively) appreciated by between one percent and fifteen per cent, whereas the unpronounceable ESNT, BRX, MVNR, and TWTR (Essent, Brixmor, Mavenir, and Twitter) depreciated by between half a per cent and fourteen per cent. Eight stocks is a tiny sample by any standard, and stock prices are shaped by far more powerful forces—but the relationship between ticker pronounceability and early performance seems to hold with larger samples, too. (The trend holds if you include all twenty-three stocks that began trading between early October and early November: after twenty-four hours on the market, seventy-five per cent of the companies with pronounceable symbols appreciated, but only forty-seven per cent of those with unpronounceable tickers appreciated.)

Several years ago, Daniel Oppenheimer and I examined the performance of nearly a thousand stocks that entered the New York Stock Exchange and American Exchange between 1990 and 2004. We separated stocks with pronounceable ticker symbols from those with unpronounceable symbols. Across both markets, stocks with pronounceable symbols enjoyed a bigger post-I.P.O. boost than their unpronounceable counterparts. The effect was strongest during the first few days of trading; over time, it weakened, but never quite vanished.

  • Jainism Buddhism Created By Lord Vishnu.

There are twelve Avatars of Vishnu which is in vogue.

There is also a list of the 28 Avatars of Vishnu, about which I have blogged.

The Vishnu Purana states that the Jainism and Buddhism were a created deliberately by Lord Vishnu as a curse to ensure that the Asuras do not follow the Vedas, as the strict adherence to the Vedas by the Asuras were making them stronger and more powerful than the Devas.

    The narration is like this.

Mahavir , the Founder of Jainism
    Mahavira,Jainism-The last Thirthankara.

During one of the innumerable wars between the Devas ans the Asuras, the Asuras were gaining the upper hand and the Devas entreated Lord Vishnu to save them.

Lord Vishnu created Maya Mohan,One who appears to be Real but illusory, that is the Preaching would be deceptively similar to the Vedas but against the Authority of the Vedas.

Maya Mohan taught the new system to the Asuras and as they were listening attentively, he ,Lord Vishnu, kept repeating ‘Arhatha, Arhata’,’Be Deserved for this’

This body of Teaching later came to be known as ‘Arhatha’ which term became corrupted later and was known as Jainism.

So the Asuras started following the new Religion.

The word Jainism is derived from a Sanskrit verb Jin which means to conquer. It refers to a battle with the passions and bodily pleasures that the jainaascetics undertake. Those who win this battle are termed as Jina (conqueror). The term Jaina is thus used to refer to laymen and ascetics of this tradition alike.

It could also indicate thet Lord Vishnu conquered the Asuras or the Devas conquered them.

The Jaina meta Physics closely resembles, in fact most of them are from, Hinduism.

Jaina metaphysics is based on seven or nine fundamentals which are known as tattva, constituting an attempt to explain the nature of the human predicament and to provide solutions to it:[34]

    1. Jīva: The essence of living entities is called jiva, a substance which is different from the body that houses it. Consciousness, knowledge and perception are its fundamental attributes.
    2. Ajīva: Non-living entities that consist of matter, space and time fall into the category of ajiva.
    3. Asrava: The interaction between jīva and ajīva causes the influx of a karma (a particular form of ajiva) into the soul, to which it then adheres.
    4. Bandha: The karma masks the jiva and restricts it from having its true potential of perfect knowledge and perception.
    5. Saṃvara: Through right conduct, it is possible to stop the influx of additional karma.
    6. Nirjarā: By performing asceticism, it is possible to shred or burn up the existing karma.
    7. Mokṣa: The jiva which has removed its karma is said to be liberated and to have its pure, intrinsic quality of perfect knowledge in its true form.

Some authors add two additional categories: the meritorious and demeritorious acts related to karma. These are called puṇya and pāpa respectively. These fundamentals acts as the basis for the Jain metaphysics..

Jainism Karma Theory is the strict interpretation of Hindu Karma Theory.

    Buddhism.

As some of the Asuras did not follow these teachings, Lord Vishnu taught another body of thought saying ‘Buddhyatvam, Buddhyatha’.

The One who propounded this Theory was called the Buddha.

This body of thoughts became known as Buddhism.

Buddhism also closely follows Hinduism excepting the denial of God.

It may be appreciated that Adi Sankaracharya was called a ‘Pseudo Buddhist for his interpretations of the Mahavaayas, while arriving at Advaita.

Buddhism is Nihilist while Advaita defines Reality as Not Two.

This may be the reason for the fact that Jainism contains most of the Teachings of the Vedas, especially the Rules to follow in Life.
